It’s never too late.
At 87 years old, Terry has recently started his strength training journey.
Like many people, Terry believed there was very little that could be done at his age to improve his health and physical function. Following an initial assessment with our physiotherapy team to address some long standing concerns, we developed a personalised plan to help him move and feel better.
Fast forward a few months and, with guidance from our physiotherapists and Strength & Conditioning Coach Jack, Terry is absolutely smashing it.
Strength, balance, confidence and independence can all be improved at any age.
The biggest mistake is believing it’s too late to start.
Be more like Terry. 💪

Sometimes the most powerful coaching doesn’t come from what we say, it comes from what we show.
Children notice effort.
They notice consistency.
They notice when training is part of normal life.
Strength training isn’t just about lifting weights.
It’s about setting an example, building confidence, and showing the next generation that looking after your body matters.
Strong habits start young, often just by watching.

“Service matters.”
Great service is easy to notice.
Popped into our local coffee spot today and, as always, it was personal, friendly and done properly.
Quality product. Consistent service. People who clearly care about what they do.
That’s exactly how we try to run Gecko.
Whether it’s coffee, coaching, rehab or community,
people remember how you make them feel.
PS: they even put a candle in my birthday bacon roll 💜

Let’s talk coaching.
A great coach is built on many qualities, knowledge, integrity, reliability, empathy and personality. Very few bring all of these together.
Having knowledge and simply passing on instructions isn’t coaching.
Coaching is the ability to understand the individual in front of you, adapt in real time, and apply both science and experience to guide progress.
It’s an art, grounded in evidence.
Great coaches are hard to find.
That’s why we place so much importance not just on who we bring into the team, but making sure you’re working with the right one.

Why do people love boxing? 🥊
Because it demands everything.
You quickly realise it’s far harder than it looks. There’s no time to overthink, only movement, reactions, focus and effort.
The sweat and calories burned are simply the by product of fun and concentration.
Boxing builds fitness, confidence and resilience.
Combat sports, and everything they stand for, have always been at the heart of Team Gecko.
