What an inspiring visit for our children!

Today we were joined by a paramedic and a firefighter who gave brilliant hands‑on demonstrations of their lifesaving skills. From exploring equipment to seeing real‑world techniques in action, the children were absolutely captivated.

They responded in the most touching way — with thoughtful questions, and huge enthusiasm. Moments like these remind us how powerful community role models can be.

It also opened up exciting career possibilities for our young people. Whether it’s emergency medicine, fire and rescue, or other frontline roles, today showed just how many ways there are to serve and protect our community.

A massive thank you to our guests for giving their time, energy, and passion. Yateley is stronger because of people like you.

“ Look at the differences between a typical preschool child’s hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isn’t able to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc.
All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready.” ❤️

We’re so grateful to Isobel’s grandad for giving our children the gift of music this afternoon. His peripatetic session had everyone listening, moving and smiling — such a lovely example of our community coming together for the children - and Lucy really enjoyed it too :-)

Help! Cuddly toys required.
Given the success of our Summer Fair last week we have no more cuddly toys in our 'bank' (- needless to say all the bottles went!).
But we've been invited to have a stall at Potley Hill Primary School's Summer Fair next week and we thought we could do a cuddly toy/book tombola - that was before we ran out of cuddly toys! So if you have a surplus, plethora, cupboards rammed with pre-loved cuddly toys that you'd love to see the back of, please bring them into preschool next week.

What a wonderful Summer Fair we had! The sunshine, the smiles and the excitement made it such a memorable afternoon.

Star of the Show was Brambles Animal Encounters, who introduced groups of children to a bearded dragon, giant land snails and a royal python — sharing fascinating facts about their habitats and behaviours in a fun, engaging way. The children were spellbound!

Around the field we had football, train rides, lucky dip, tombolas, games, bracelet making, tattoos and the ever popular face painting, plus delicious homemade lemonade (made by the children!), cakes, ices and hotdogs.

We were touched by the many lovely compliments from families — thank you so much for your support and for helping create such a joyful community event.
