We're pleased to see our training centre featured in Machinery Market this month.

We've now invested in eleven manual machines from Bristol-based MACH Machine Tools — six L-1340 lathes and five VS-1 mills — all installed at our purpose-built centre in Yate.

Working in partnership with Swatpro, our Level 2 and Level 3 apprentices spend a full ten months with us in year one, rotating through turning, milling and fitting in six-week blocks. And rather than machining abstract test pieces, they're making functional tools they'll go on to use — thread vices, V-blocks, Go/No Go gauges, toolmakers' clamps.

Celebrating Engineering Apprenticeship Success

Our recent Engineering Awards Evening was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievements of this year's apprenticeship completers.

It was great to meet Logan last week at our Engineering Training Centre.

He was showcasing his skills, expanding his knowledge by producing steel components, while also using 3D printing to create models of the components too.

Logan has been practising his CNC skills and is now producing enclosures for measuring equipment… along with a very useful bagel cutter!

Great to see skills, creativity and engineering in action – a privilege to see the skills learnt in action! Well done Logan.

🔧 Apprenticeship Opportunity – Mechanical Assembly Fitter | Bradman Lake Ltd, Yate. Deadline July 17th.

Are you mechanically minded and looking to kick-start a career in engineering? This could be the one for you! 👇

Bradman Lake Ltd — part of the multi-disciplined global UK engineering group, Langley Holdings plc, and a leading designer and manufacturer of packaging machinery — is looking for an apprentice Mechanical Assembly Fitter based in Yate, Bristol.

🛠️ What you'll be doing:
Bench fitting, frame and tooling alignment, functional testing, fault finding, use of machine tools and hand tools, and supporting customer visits to commission and test machines.

📚 Training: Provided by Swatpro Academy – BEMA in Yate
⏱️ Duration: 48 months | Mon–Fri, 37 hours/week
🎓 Entry requirement: 4 GCSEs including Maths, English & Science at Grade 4–9 (or equivalent)

🚀 Future prospects include progression into supervision, management, engineering and service departments.

📅 Closing date: Friday 17 July 2026
🗓️ Possible start: 17 August 2026
