We have been pretty quiet this year on our page, but that doesn’t mean we’ve had a quiet year at Puddleducks Childcare.
This year we have explored the world around us, focusing on topics such as, occupations, dinosaurs and other animals, how to keep healthy, all about us and emotions. We have learnt about life cycles and the people who help us. We have also explored topics about transportation and seasons.
We have been on trips to the park, enjoyed walks around the river, seen lots of friendly animals along the way, we have been to the local supermarket, we have had picnics and we have been to Waterstones for story time.
We have worked towards individual learning goals such as letter and number recognition, the formation of letters and numbers and writing own names. We’ve learnt to use the toilet and the potty. We’ve learnt how to dress ourselves and brush our own teeth as well as serve our own food.
We’ve gotten messy, creative, and wet. We’ve sang nursery rhymes, we’ve read traditional tales and some of our favourite books too.
We’ve explored colour, we’ve rescued animals from foam and gloop, we’ve enjoyed mark making using cars, dinosaurs, sponges, brushes, our hands and feet. We’ve brought stories to life as we pretend to walk through ‘swishy, ‘swashy grass’, we’ve been on a journey with a mouse and met some snakes, owls and foxes along the way. We’ve recreated a Gruffalo crumble. We’ve helped a very hungry caterpillar eat some yummy foods and then watched him turn into a beautiful butterfly. We’ve even heard that witches ride on broomsticks with cats and dogs and frogs and birds. And, guess what, we even read a story that told us that ‘some dogs do fly’, even though some of us were a little unsure weather dogs actually can fly, but in the story ‘some dogs do’ they say dogs do, so we like to play along too.
We’ve laughed, we’ve sang, we’ve offered a helping hand to others and we’ve used kind words. We’ve modelled good behaviours and we’ve role modelled too, as doctors, nurses, builders, farmers and dentists, we’ve even pretended that we were scientists and daycare workers. We’ve gotten messy, we’ve gotten wet, we’ve been creative and we’ve explored. We’ve been bakers and made our own cupcakes, pizzas, fruit cocktails and smoothies. But we’ve also explored our seasons including Winter, Spring and Summer, but soon we will welcome autumn into our play too. We’ve said hello to new faces and goodbye to some forever friends. We’ve celebrated Father’s Day , birthdays, pancake day, Mother’s Day, Easter, st Patrick’s day, Eid and much more.

We are proud, we are resilient and we are successful in everything that we do. We try and we try again but we never give up. We are kind, we are strong, we have grown and we are the children of Puddleducks.
