Greyhounds - Swindon and Beyond

Greyhounds - Swindon and Beyond A small project being set up to match retired greyhounds needing homes with homes needing retired greyhounds. We are very proud of all the dogs that we rehome.

We treat all the retired dogs as the awesome, retired, professional athletes that they are. They are all magnificent, whether they were 'open' class champions or running in the graded classes. All of them have been a joy to watch and a privilege to own. Here at Greyhounds - Swindon and Beyond we believe that all that joy and the privilege of owning the dogs will go with them into their new homes.

Well our first Great Global Greyhound Walk in Swindon was a roaring success. Some fabulous mystical mutts and their people were there. 76 hounds all strutting their stuff and a fabulous £172.22 was raised which of course will all go to help the hounds.
It was a little bitter sweet though as the main prize - The Pauline Anderson Memorial Trophy was presented by Pauline's niece and her partner. They were both delighted to meet up with Muffin, Pauline's greyhound and her new mum and dad.
A lovely part of the event was that Ron who had to be returned yesterday has been reserved! He'll be going for his home check next weekend and assuming that goes well he'll be starting a new life. Good job he's not unpacked yet.

The Swindon half marathon is running at the same time as the GGGW. This is the route so it should be quite easy not to get in the way on the way to and from our walk. The half marathon runs from 9am to 12.13pm. WHOOOP...............WHOOP........... WHOOP.

Sometimes you take a phone call that has both the caller and the recipient close to tears, well I've just had one such call.
This is Ron, a lovely dog with a huge personality and he's very much loved by his owner. Ron was adopted from Greyhounds Swindon and Beyond a year almost to the day and from the start fitted into the family like a hand into a glove. He's come back for holidays and has always got on with the residents.
Now we come to the phone call. His adopter is so dreadfully upset but circumstances change and he has a new job which will take him out of the house and working away for half the week. This isn't fair on Ron or his family so Ron is coming back.
I've promised that I'll do everything I can to make sure that whoever adopts this lovely lad will stay in touch so I can let his family know how he's doing.
Ron is such a happy lad, so much so that he had such bad happy tail that he had to have the end amputated, but this just means he can wag his tail even faster now. He's housetrained, doesn't mind being left for a few hours at a time, isn't destructive, loves going for long walks so he'd make an ideal pet for an active family. He's great with children so what's not to love?
If you think you might be interested in adopting Ron then please get in touch. He'll be coming on the Great Global Greyhound Walk so you could meet him then.

We got such a warm welcome at RWB Artisan Market on Saturday. Stunner came with us to show what fabulous pets greyhounds make, of course she found the organic free range meat stand with no difficulty at all.

Reintroducing Bertie and Elle. Bertie's the handsome black and white chap and Elle is the black beauty. They've both been out for an assessment, Bertie is a bit strong on the lead but apart from that he's very good. Elle walks well. Both of them have a bit of interest in small dogs and things but nothing that worries us. If you'd like to meet either of these gorgeous dogs then please message the page or ring Jayne on 07786541615. You won't regret it :)
