Friday afternoon dressmaking lessons; fabric choices 💖

I have been very quiet - very busy with teaching and sewing, all the best things 🩷

Must do better with social media 🙈

One very happy student - who has learnt how to take up her jeans. You would never know she has altered them.

She was so pleased with herself and even happier when; as she put it was ‘she was going in the gallery of fame’ 😂 I didn’t want to disappoint.

When someone gives you a homemade gift they’re not being cheap. Handcrafted things can take hours, days or even weeks to make.

It’s not being cheap - they are made for you with thought & love.

The first day of Autumn

The leaves are changing colours. The weather is starting to feel chilly or very wet as it is today!

Students are busy; changing to seasonal projects.

Dressmaking; dungarees are popular for all ages.
Knitting; winter warm, snuggly cardigans and socks are on the needles.
Embroidery and Patchwork; beautiful orange and reds are beginning to be pulled out of the sewing and stash boxes.
Crochet; is all about getting ready for Christmas.

I have set up new after school classes for young people and without even putting them on the website or any social media - I’m already over subscribed.

For me this is wonderful but also gives me sleepless nights as I worry that I cannot accommodate everyone who enquires. Please bear with me if you are on the waiting list - I am sorry.

I am having a wonderful time and for you; my lessons are a safe and enjoyable learning experience.

Example of work in class today:

Gracie (13) is on the Intermediate Crochet Course. This is her 8th lesson, including six lessons in the beginner course - having never crocheted before. I am in awe of the speed Gracie has picked up the hobby of crocheting. This beautiful flower granny square block was learnt and crocheted in today’s lesson. [Photo 1]

Grace (13) in on the dressmaking course. She wanted to further her skills, that she is being taught at school. She is sewing a skirt in this beautiful Tana Lawn Liberty fabric (from her mum’s stash!). Throughout this course Grace has been learning to master many of the skills required in dressmaking. Including how to insert a zip - excellent job done. [Photo 2]
