Meet The Team: George – Site Manager
George has been working with young people for many years and has been involved in the scouting movement since he was young, where he first developed his love for the outdoors.
He began his working life as a gardener before moving into outdoor instruction, eventually going freelance in 2024. Since then, he has travelled across the country delivering Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, archery sessions, bushcraft courses and a wide range of outdoor activities.
George has been part of the Alfresco family since our first summer camp in 2022, starting as an instructor and quickly working his way up to Site Manager. He’s a big part of what keeps camp running smoothly and is passionate about helping children build confidence and develop practical life skills through outdoor experiences.

Meet the Team:

Over the coming weeks we will be putting out information on our staff members so that you have a better idea of who’s working for us and peace of mind that your children are in safe hands!

Max – Founder, Director & Operations Manager

I’ve been exploring the outdoors all my life.

From joining Beavers as a child, I have remained involved with the scouting movement. Being an Explorer Leader for a local group allows me to create the same experiences for young people that inspired me growing up.

My career in the outdoors began as soon as I was old enough. Before I could instruct activities, I worked at Go Outdoors to learn about the equipment and tools behind the job. Within two weeks of turning 18 I joined PGL and started leading outdoor activities professionally.

Since then, I’ve freelanced for a range of organisations delivering Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, bushcraft sessions, team-building days and holiday camps. Over time, I’ve become particularly strong at laying out the wider life skills behind each activity, helping children and young people build and develop these as they take part.

This is the core of what I have brought to Alfresco Outdoors and hope to continue to develop broad life skills within the children we have with us through fun outdoor activities!

Hi Everyone!
Spring is coming...

🗓Available dates:
Bookings are currently open for our Easter and May holiday camps through our website.
Our Summer program is also in the pipeline and will be released once we’ve finalised a few key details.

🎯Our activities...
While our activities are listed on the website and you may have seen photos and timetables on our social media, we realised we've never really explained them to you, the parents!
Each day we run a varied mix of activities from fire lighting to archery, wood splitting to crafts. Whichever day your child attends there will be something for them to get stuck into!
Over the next few months, we will be sharing more about our activities on social media (after posting in our WhatsApp community), so feel free to follow along to see what we get up to!

🤔Life skills:
While fun is at the core of what we do, each activity is designed to develop one or more life skills such as: patience & respect, planning & preparation, empathy, risk awareness.
Most of these skills are developed naturally through the activities, but we also highlight them when appropriate, so children recognise what they are learning along the way.

Happy New Year everyone! 🥳

We hope you all had a great Christmas 🎄 and a brilliant start to the year. 🎆

We’ve got some exciting updates to share, so here’s a quick summary followed by a little more detail below.

*The short version:*
✅ Our brand-new website is live,
✅ Easy to use new booking system,
✅ February Half Term bookings are now open,
✅ A refreshed Parent Pack is available,
🌄 Dates for the rest of the year will be released shortly,

*The longer version:*

💻 We’re delighted to share that Alfresco Outdoors now has a new website and booking system, designed to make booking quicker, clearer, and easier for everyone. Once you’ve used it, everything should run smoothly with minimal admin from your side.

📅 February Half Term is now open to book at £45 per day (8am–6pm). We had a fantastic February camp last year and, as always, we’ll be making full use of both outdoor activities and our indoor spaces for warming up and regrouping.

ℹ️ Our updated, colourful Parent Pack is also linked below with everything you need to know ahead of camp.

🌄 We’ll be rolling out dates for the rest of the year very shortly, once we’ve completed this initial launch phase.

Rain or shine, the fun doesn't stop! 🌈 We've hit the ground running at our brand new site in Ewell. A HUGE thank you to all our families that have booked for your support this week as we have settled in. Despite the change in weather, the kids' energy and enthusiasm is propelling us through a full week of fun, smiles and activities galore! 💪🎨🌧 Stay tuned to see some snaps of these activities at Ewell Castle and Writtle University...
