Exciting developments at Wrexham University!
We are delighted to welcome another major delivery of new engineering equipment from Didactic Services into our CanfodAU – Centre of Engineering and Innovation, made possible through the Society 5.0 project, funded by Ambition North Wales.
From automation, PLCs and smart sensors to pneumatics, electro-pneumatics, conveyor technology and mechanical training systems, this equipment will give our students even more opportunities to gain practical, hands-on experience with technologies used across modern industry.
But Society 5.0 is about more than supporting our students. These facilities will strengthen our research, knowledge exchange and industry collaboration, while providing local businesses with opportunities for upskilling, professional training and engineering support.
And there is still much more to come!

A big welcome to this year’s European and Swiss international students who have arrived at to begin their Top-Up Degree programmes in Engineering and Computing!
Today was all about induction, enrolment and getting settled into university life. Our students received a warm welcome from the International team, met our Students’ Union President, and were introduced to some of the fantastic support available to them throughout their studies.
We also took the opportunity to capture this special moment in CanfodAu – Centre of Engineering and Innovation, speaking to some of our new students about their journey to Wrexham and their aspirations for the year ahead.
A huge thank you to everyone across the University who helped make today such a positive start.
We wish all our new students the very best for their academic journey and look forward to seeing and celebrating their achievements throughout the year!

National recognition while studying is no small achievement.
Toby, one of our Automotive Engineering students has been awarded a Launch Scholarship from the The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) (IET), selected from hundreds of applicants across the UK.
The scholarship recognises both achievement and potential, supporting students throughout their studies, including financial support that helps them continue progressing regardless of background.
Toby was selected due to his outstanding accomplishments whilst working in industry for Aston Martin, as well as the impact he hopes to make as a future engineer.
His journey is also supported by the Society Of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT), reflecting continued confidence in his development.
