๐ Your Wild Food Year is now available for just $7 a month
If youโve followed Woodland Classroom for a while, you may already know our Your Wild Food Year course โ a whole year of seasonal foraging walks, plant identification, recipes, photo galleries, workshops and wild food inspiration.
And autumn is one of my favourite parts of it. ๐๐ฐ๐ฟ
Blackberries, elderberries, hawthorn, rosehips, sweet chestnuts, fungiโฆ there is so much appearing in the hedgerows and woods right now.
But thereโs been a big change to how you can access the course.
๐ฟ The complete Your Wild Food Year course is now included inside my Rooted in Nature community for just $7 a month, with a 7-day free trial.
Rooted in Nature is a women-only community I created for those who want to go a little further than simply learning plant names โ to forage, make things with wild plants, live more seasonally and feel more connected to the natural world throughout the year.
Your Wild Food Year is included in full, so you can work through the course month by month, dip into whatever is in season now, watch the recorded workshops and return to it again and again.
If youโre one of the women who has enjoyed our Woodland Classroom foraging content over the years, Iโd love to welcome you over there. ๐

Itโs that time of year when I harvest the seeds of the nettle.
Full of nutrients, great for giving you energy and a tonic for the adrenal gland function.
We ran out of last years harvest during winter, so this year Iโll be harvesting plenty over the coming weeks.
As well as sprinkling them over my breakfast, I love to roll them into raw chocolate energy balls ๐

๐ฟ Have you ever noticed this little purple flower growing beneath your feet?
Self-Heal (*Prunella vulgaris*) is one of our most common wildflowers, yet many people walk past it without ever realising the remarkable history and traditional uses it holds.
In this video, I come from my own garden to introduce you to this humble little plant and explore:
๐ฟ How to identify Self-Heal
๐ฟ Its traditional uses for wounds and sore throats
๐ฟ Why herbalists have valued it for centuries
๐ฟ Its fascinating healing properties
๐ฟ Where you're likely to find it growing
It's a wonderful reminder that some of nature's most useful plants aren't hidden away in remote placesโthey're often growing right outside our backdoor.
๐ฅ Watch the full video below and let me know if you've spotted Self-Heal on your own walks.
๐ฟ If you'd like to explore plants like this in greater depth, I've also just started creating a brand new **Self-Heal Mini-Course** inside my free **Rooted in Nature** community. You'll find videos, folklore, practical remedies, seasonal inspiration and a growing collection of plant wisdom to help you deepen your connection with the natural world.
I'd love to see you there. ๐

๐ Summer Solstice: Reconnecting with the Season ๐
This weekend marks the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.
For thousands of years, people watched the changing seasons closely. The position of the sun helped them understand the rhythms of nature, prepare for harvests and mark important points in the year.
The Summer Solstice was often celebrated with gatherings, fires, feasting, storytelling and gratitude for the abundance of the season.
While most of us no longer rely on the seasons in the same way, there is something deeply nourishing about slowing down and taking notice of them.
Whether it's watching the sunrise, sharing food outdoors, foraging for seasonal plants, sitting around a fire or simply taking a quiet walk in nature, the Solstice offers an opportunity to reconnect with the natural world.
Tomorrow evening I'll be hosting a Summer Solstice Circle inside my Rooted in Nature community. We'll be exploring the seasonal traditions, folklore and symbolism of the Solstice, along with simple ways to mark this ancient turning point in the year.
If you'd simply like some inspiration, ideas and seasonal resources, you're also very welcome to join the growing free community, where I've been sharing practical ways to connect with nature, the Wheel of the Year and seasonal living.

Is there anything better than spending time messing around with sticks? A great day was had by all on our Woodcraft & Whittling course. Spatulas, tent pegs, gypsy flowers and mallets were made. Students also got stuck into axe ๐ช throwing.
