Hey Guys! Rarely do I post about my students. They all have their own journeys and goals and progress at their own rate.
BUT today was 7 year old Perrie’s 6th lesson. We’ve been working on the song ‘Naughty’ from Matilda. Not being at an age where she’s reading fluently we knew this would be a mammoth task as there are so many lyrics that are quite complex for a younger child.
But with hard work and determined she has knocked it out of the park today🥇. Honestly if I were casting I would have given her the part of Matilda. Not a note off key, clear pronunciation and pure passion for the song. So much passion that on completing the song she was welling up with emotion 🥹🥹 (As was I)

If a child loves singing this much it’s important that they embrace it. A love for music and making music is a gift. And this 7 year old has talent and passion!!

3 years ago the most shy 15 year old in the world walked through my door for her first singing lesson. She had this beautiful crystal clear tone but couldn’t get through a sentence without nervously apologising for the mistake she had convinced herself she had just made.
I asked her what her aim was. She told me she loved musical theatre and wanted to grow in confidence. She said one day she hoped she could sing ‘Burn’ from Hamilton.
Although still a beautifully modest young lady, Emily has transformed over the last 3 years. Building more confidence with every technique and song under her belt.
Tonight was Emily’s last session, now 18 she is off to Lancaster University in September. We finished tonight with a perfect rendition of ‘Burn’. Something that wouldn’t have been possible for the timid 15 year old who stood in front of me those three years ago.
I’m so proud of you Emily!! I’ve watched you grow as a singer and a person. I wish you all the luck in the world in your new life. You’re going to do great!

School will be closed for Christmas from Friday the 18th of December and will re-open on Monday the 4th of January.

I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate all my students on the progress they have made this year. It hasn’t been easy with all the inconsistencies of covid closures but we have made some outstanding improvements along the way.

So this is my little Jayden, he’s just 12 years old and quite the newbie. Jayden started with me end of August, due to the current situation I calculate he’s only had 9 lessons tops. But he’s running with it. His breathing has improved, his diction has come on so much and his range is getting better all the time.

Well Done Jayden!! Super proud of you for having the confidence to make this video. Always a joker and a pleasure to teach!! Top points for that big finish dude ❤️❤️

Welcome to THE SING SCHOOL CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE 🎄🎄🎄

This year there has been very few opportunities to showcase the work we have been doing in class. I have students of all ages and abilities that have worked really hard to improve. Some who have started as complete beginners have found courage to sing for the very first time. Students who are normally professional singers have been keeping vocally fit and improving their skills so that when they are allowed to return to the stage they have new skills and techniques.

As a goal, I have asked the students to work on a specially selected Christmas song with the view of perfecting the song and making a video for social media. Some of my newer students have been working on songs but might not find the confidence to air them publicly, others are looking forward to posting them throughout December.

As a teacher and a coach I believe in leading by example. I also like to demonstrate that even the professionals aren’t always perfect 😜😜😂😂

So here is my version of ‘Oh Holy night’ .... live from the living room.
