We were truly spoilt last week at WAoSA to have Eleri Jones back with us to teach our students 🎬✨
Eleri is a film, TV and theatre director, and we’re so thankful she came in to inspire both our 15–17s and our adult class with her expertise.

We had a fab visit to Stori Brymbo this week and it was a brilliant moment for our WAoSA actors ⭐️ This is exactly what WAoSA is all about: creating real opportunities for local performers right on their doorstep.

Through our production company Minera Studios , our students Chris Earl Jones, Craig Blackwell, Peter Crump, and our tutor and Managing Director Louise Pridding were cast as real people who worked at or were connected to the Brymbo steelworks.

The talking head instalments were written by Peter Cox and directed by WAoSA treasurer Ian Puleston Davies, both masters of their craft 🎬

Last week the actors visited the museum to see the final pieces for themselves. It is amazing to think their footage is now being played daily for visitors from the local area and beyond 🌍

Stori Brymbo is a wonderful building with so much history. If you haven’t visited yet, it is well worth it ✨

Huge thanks to Nicola Sawford and Jess for arranging the visit. We are so proud of everyone involved ❤️

We are thrilled that one of our young actors from the 15–17 group had an amazing shoot on our showreel package, directed by Jonny Dixon and filmed by Mountain Top Media 🎬

This was Skye’s first ever experience on a film set and her first time working with animals on a shoot. Thrown in at the deep end twice, and she handled it like a true professional!

Skye, we are so proud of how far you have come since joining WAoSA last year. Your weekly commitment never goes unnoticed, and you are an absolute pleasure to direct 💛

We are relieved and delighted that you had such a brilliant time on set. The quality and level of precision look incredible, and we cannot wait to see the end result 🎥

If you are in need of footage or updated footage to put on your Spotlight profile, then why not email us at [email protected] to find out more ✨

What a brilliant evening we had at our Adult Showcase last Wednesday! 🌟 It was amazing watching our students on the big screen, sharing scenes that reflect their casting type and the skills they’ve developed this term.
Dean Fagan Ruby Snape Wrexham University

These scenes aren’t meant to be Spotlight‑ready showreels, but they’re a fantastic progress tracker and a great chance for students to gain real on‑set experience — boom mic, clapperboard and all. 🎥✨

A huge thank you to friends and family for your support, and to the Creative Industries Building at Wrexham University for opening your wonderful TV studio space again. It’s such a fantastic place for our students to see their work come to life.

If you’re interested in the work we’re building here in Wrexham, why not book a £5 taster session? Our tutors will be on hand to answer any questions. Adult classes (18+) run Mondays and Thursdays from 7:10 to 9:30pm.

We’d love to welcome you into our friendly WAoSA community! 🤍🎬
