What if we taught children HOW to learn, rather than simply WHAT to learn?

At Tiddlypeeps, we nurture the whole child.
Because children aren't just little minds waiting to absorb information.
Their emotions, bodies, relationships, curiosity and sense of self are all part of their learning.

Sometimes the most important thing a child needs to learn isn't their numbers or letters.
It might be:
❤️ How to recognise an emotion
🌱 How to regulate when they're overwhelmed
🧠 How to solve a problem
🤝 How to negotiate with a friend
🌿 How to assess risk
💪 How to persevere when something feels difficult
✨ How to trust themselves

And that's why we don't always give children the answers.
Sometimes we ask:
"What do you think?"
"I wonder what might happen if…?"
"How could we find out?"
"What could you try?"
Sometimes we demonstrate.
Sometimes we support.
Sometimes we learn alongside them.

And sometimes, the best thing we can do is step back and let them discover.
Because we don't just want children to know things.
We want them to know that they are capable of finding things out.
That they can be curious.
That they can try.
That they can make mistakes.
That they can try again.
That they can ask for help.
That they can trust themselves.
We don't just want to fill their minds with information.
We want to help them become confident, curious, resilient learners for life.
That's the magic of learning through nature. 🍀💚

🌿 Little hands. Big learning.
A handful of blackberries. A collection of leaves. A stick, some petals and a little imagination.
It might look like simple play…
But at Tiddlypeeps, we know that these moments are full of learning. 🌿

When children are given the time and freedom to explore nature for themselves, they are developing so much more than we might see on the surface.
🫐 Connection to nature — noticing the colours, textures, smells, seasons and changes around them.
🎨 Creativity — turning what they find into pictures, patterns, creations and stories.
🌱 Curiosity — wondering, questioning, investigating and discovering what happens when they try something new.
🧠 Problem-solving — working out what they need, how something might work and what they could do differently.
🤲 Decision-making — choosing what to collect, where to explore and what they want to create.
💪 Physical development — walking, climbing, balancing, reaching, carrying and using their hands in different ways.
❤️ Emotional wellbeing — having the space to slow down, be present, follow their interests and simply be.
And perhaps most importantly…
They are learning to trust themselves.
There isn't always a right answer.
There isn't always an end product.
Sometimes it's simply about wondering:
"What happens if I try this?"
And then finding out for themselves.
This is what we love about nature-based learning at Tiddlypeeps.
The environment becomes the classroom, and the child becomes the explorer. 🌿
Because childhood doesn't need to be filled with instructions and activities.
Sometimes, all we need to do is give children time, space and freedom to discover.

Follow us for more 💚✨

At Tiddlypeeps, we support children to explore and discover for themselves. 🌿

We encourage curious minds to follow their own adventures and see where they lead...

Through the grass maze.

Up into a tree.

Making music with a stick they've found on the woodland floor, or creating rhythms on our music wall in the meadow.

Most importantly, we give children the time and space to wander in wonder, ask questions and follow their own interests.

When children are trusted to make choices, solve problems and explore the world around them, something incredible happens.

They begin to trust themselves.

They discover what they're capable of.

They become more confident, resilient and resourceful because they've experienced the joy of figuring things out for themselves.

Of course, routines, boundaries and guidance all have an important place. But we also believe children need the freedom to explore, imagine and take ownership of their learning.

At Tiddlypeeps, children are supported, celebrated and encouraged to grow into young people who are curious, capable and confident enough to follow their own path.

Because sometimes, the greatest adventures begin when we're simply given the freedom to roam wild and free. 🌿

Ooh I love this! Yesterday’s Rewild Play hub session was testament to this.

Children were so engaged in exploring and playing.

We’re so proud and grateful for the lovely response we got from parents yesterday.

One parent shared “It was so lovely to be able to go to the Rewild hub and have them go off exploring for the entire session, only checking in with me once or twice during the whole time. Usually at parks or friends houses they are checking in constantly or sitting with me. Definitely recommend”

Some of the children are very familiar with the site, as they’ve been visiting for years as a preschooler themselves or at birthday parties. The way the engaged and interacted with each other and the environment was wonderful to watch.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! 🥰❤️🙌✨

Can you spot the animals that I get distracted by in this video! 😅 hopefully you can see them on the vid, otherwise why not join us to see them in person for yourself?

We’d love to see you.

If you haven’t booked yet then just rock up at 1.30pm at Tiddlypeeps (located next Tortworth Primary School) and pay on the day, cash or card accepted✨🙌
