Hello I’m Laura 👋 I am the co-founder of Caterpillar Corner and wanted to share a little bit about me….
If someone had asked me years ago where life would lead me, I don't think I would have imagined that one day I would be opening a preschool with my sister. Yet when I look back, it feels like every part of my journey has led me to this moment.
For much of my working life, I was a nurse. Caring for others wasn't just my job—it was part of who I am. I loved being there for people when they needed support, comfort, and reassurance. Nursing taught me empathy, patience, and the importance of treating every person as an individual. Those lessons have stayed with me throughout my life.
But my greatest lessons came when I became a mum.
Like any parent, I wanted nothing more than for them to be happy, healthy, and safe. When my daughter was little, she faced medical challenges that brought uncertainty, worry, and many difficult days. As a mother, there is nothing harder than seeing your child struggle and feeling powerless to take away their pain.
Those experiences changed me. They gave me a deeper understanding of how important it is for children and families to feel supported, understood, and cared for. They taught me resilience and helped me appreciate the enormous impact that kindness and compassion can have during challenging times.
Throughout all of life's ups and downs, one thing remained constant—my relationship with my sister.
As children, we grew up side by side, sharing memories, dreams, and countless conversations about the future. While I followed a path into nursing, she dedicated her career to childcare. I have always admired her passion for working with children and the way she naturally creates environments where they feel loved, valued, and able to thrive.
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted us to work together. It was one of those dreams we would talk about and imagine, never quite knowing if the timing would ever be right.
Now, that dream is finally becoming a reality.
Opening our preschool together feels so much bigger than starting a business. It feels like bringing together everything we have learned, everything we care about, and everything we believe children deserve. We are combining our experiences, our strengths, and most importantly, our shared values as sisters.
Our preschool will be built on warmth, kindness, and genuine care. We want every child who walks through our doors to feel safe, happy, and celebrated for exactly who they are. We want families to know they are understood and supported because we know firsthand how important that support can be.
For me, this journey is deeply personal. It is inspired by my years as a nurse, shaped by my experiences as a mother, strengthened by the challenges my family has faced.
What started as a dream between two sisters has become a reality, and I couldn't be more excited or grateful to begin this new chapter together. My hope is that every child who joins our preschool feels the same sense of belonging, care, and love that inspired us to create it.

Hello, I’m Becky 👋 I am the co-founder of Caterpillar Corner Preschool and I wanted to share a little about me ….
For as long as I can remember, opening my own preschool has been a dream of mine. As a little girl, I would line up my dolls and play schools for hours, and that dream has stayed with me ever since.
Over the years, I've worked in a variety of early years settings, after-school clubs and school nursing roles, all whilst raising my four wonderful children. Through both my career and my own experiences as a parent, I've developed experience, knowledge and a real passion for supporting children and their families.
Now that my children are older, I finally feel I have the time, energy and opportunity to pour my heart into something that is truly my own. Opening Caterpillar Corner is the start of an exciting new chapter, and I feel incredibly lucky to be turning a lifelong dream into a reality.
One of the things that makes this journey even more special is that I'm doing it with my sister. We've always been close, and being able to turn a shared dream into reality together is something I feel very grateful for.
For me, preschool is about so much more than preparing children for school. It's about creating a community. A place where children feel safe, happy and valued, and where parents are greeted by a friendly face, celebrate milestones and feel supported along the way. Whether it's sharing a proud moment, asking for advice, or simply having a cup of tea after a difficult morning, I want our preschool to be a place where everyone feels they belong.
I can't wait to welcome our very first Caterpillar Corner families and watch our little preschool grow into something really special at the heart of our community. 🐛🌱
