Looking for childcare? I have a vacancy unexpectedly available for an under 5 starting 22/9/25 for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8-5pm with the possibility of Fridays as well. Based in Durrington area of Worthing.

I accept government 30hr funding for all age groups plus Tax Free Childcare payments as well.

Absolutely. School readiness is not being able to read and write. It’s more about being able to listen, understand and follow simple instructions, being able to independently get yourself dressed and undressed (think PE), put on your own coat and shoes, open your own lunchbox or eat a hot meal with a knife and fork, having the social skills and confidence to cope in a busy classroom or playground, and ask adults for help when needed. If they CAN read or write, that’s amazing, but if they only recognise their own name then that’s enough. I see my job as equipping them with the independence, confidence, and ability to question and problem solve that they need to start school.

And what a sense of achievement a child has when they realise they can do something independently!

This is something I am a passionate advocate for…I strongly believe that children in this country start school way too early and don’t get enough opportunity to play…they learn far more through their play than the majority of adults recognise.

A little flavour of the autumn term so far…

Just a little flavour of some of the varied outings and activities that have been keeping us busy these holidays. The weather may not have been traditionally ‘summer’ but we’ve escaped any rain, and have included a special outing to buy a build a bear keepsake teddy for one of my school leavers who has been with me from 10 months of age. Just a few more days before term time begins…the six weeks has flown by!
