We would like to say a big thank you to all those who sponsored us on our sponsored walk for Children in Need. We raised an impressive £50.00! Well done to all those children and parents who participated.

Today the children successfully completed our sponsored walk for Children in Need. Throughout the week we have been making Pudsey Bear ears which the children wore today. We walked all the way around Beach House Park and finished up in the Community Garden for a play. We were very lucky as the weather was beautiful.
The children learnt that the sponsored walk was to raise money to help children who were poorly or in need of help.

Happy Diwali! ✨
This week Hedgehog House Nursery celebrated Diwali Day. We learnt all about the Indian festival of light and enjoyed making salt dough Diya lamps and paper plate Rangoli patterns. At snack time we tasted different Indian snacks and afterwards danced to Indian music. We also learnt that fireworks are part of the Diwali celebration.

We have had lots of Halloween fun at Hedgehog House Nursery today! We carved a pumpkin and made paper plate pumpkins. We made spider crackers for a spooky snack and told Halloween stories with our Story Mountain 🎃👻

We have introduced a new activity to the children called ‘The Story Mountain’. It encourages the children to create their own stories, choosing different characters and plot outcomes as they place their pictures on various points of the mountain. It creates lovely communication and language opportunities and literacy skills by developing a deeper awareness of simple story structures e.g beginning, middle and end.
The children came up with some great stories and thoroughly enjoyed the activity!

Today we went to Beach House Park Community Gardens. The children had a lovely time creating an imaginary world! They sailed the boat to Dinosaur Island (the willow dome) where they discovered dinosaur eggs (the tree stumps). They escaped riding a whale to a magical castle and then discovered some story books which they thoroughly enjoyed reading whilst sat in the giant tyre! 🦖🦕🐳

We have been celebrating harvest time at nursery this week. We have been looking at different vegetables and made a greengrocer shop. We then used the vegetables for vegetable printing, and today made some yummy vegetable soup. The children chopped up the vegetables, we then washed the vegetables and then stirred in some stock. Once cooked we had a picnic in the garden and ate our soup. We fed the peeling to our chickens.

We have been making the most of autumn treasures in our activities this week! We have been going ‘bonkers for conkers‘, incorporating conkers in our artwork, construction and maths activities. We have been playing with leaves and making autumnal mixtures in our mud kitchen. The children were excited to see that our grapes were ready to harvest from the grape vine. We picked some bunches and sat in the sun for a snack.
