We’re incredibly excited to announce the launch of SAND Wave Events, a brand-new programme of events at Bay Cafe created by The SAND Project to bring people together, build community and make space for creativity, connection and lots of fun.

From comedy nights and supper clubs to crafting, open mic nights, wellness experiences and more, there’s going to be something for everyone.
And we’re kicking things off with the perfect autumnal evening…

SAND Wave Events presents: Autumnal Wreath Making with Bloomin’ Great 🍂

Come along for a relaxed, creative evening celebrating the start of autumn, where you’ll learn how to create your very own beautiful seasonal wreath to take home.

Your £55 ticket includes:

🌿 A guided wreath-making workshop
🍂 All the materials you need to create your wreath
🥂 Prosecco, wine or a hot drink to enjoy while you get creative

⭐ Wonderfully Wired – Hear Us: Autistic Voices Speak!

Join this powerful conference from the West Sussex County Council Autism in Schools Project, co-produced with Autism Ambassadors aged 8–19 years.

Hear from neurodivergent speakers and a leading researcher, chosen by the ambassadors themselves, including Paralympic swimmer Jessica-Jane Applegate, Dr Julia Simner, Dave Higgins and Cam Parfitt.

The conference will explore:
• autistic people’s lived experiences
• the impact of strengths-based approaches
• practical strategies to support learning, wellbeing and achievement
• how we can work together towards greater inclusion and understanding

Jack is another of our SAND Alumni now who previously engaged in some fabulous work experiences 🤘🏻

He has been in the Kitchen AND Front of house at Marine Gardens Restaurant

He is one multi-talented guy! 👏🏻

Well done Jack, you did brilliantly and the skills you have built have been incredible.

Thank you to all of the team at Marine Gardens, you make it super easy for our trainees to thrive in their work experience 👏🏻 on top of that, you’re always happy to guide where needed.

We are delighted to invite everyone to an upcoming exhibition at Sakala in Steyning.

‘Shisha and Reflections’ will be taking place during the Summer Holidays ☀️

Monday 10th - Saturday 15th August.
Monday will be open from 13:30am - 15:30pm
Tuesday - Saturday will be open from 12:00 - 15:30 each day.

👉🏻 SAKALA, 50 High Street, Steyning, West Sussex

Additionally, there is a private viewing where you can enjoy drinks and nibbles on Thursday evening from 18:00 - 20:00 🍷

Our Art and Photography pathways will be using this beautiful shop as a creative base, showcasing our ‘Shisha and Reflections’ work in a truly inspiring setting. All items they sell are sourced through a lifetime of travel to India, with the emphasis on fair trade and personal relationships with local craftsmen. So not only will you be able to come upstairs and enjoy our exhibition, you will also be able to browse downstairs if you wish.

We would love for you to come along, view the trainees’ work, and enjoy this relaxed and creative event!
