The baby room enjoyed spending some time with Beckie in our Forest area, they looked at the animal cuddly toys, got very messy with the mud and water play, had a go at swinging on the swing and also explored the area looking for bugs and what was around us in nature. We love being outside ❤️

We’ve had lots of fun at Forest school this week. Today we decided to make a caterpillar together, with everyone sawing some wood, colouring it and then hammering it to a piece of wood. We’re very happy with our new caterpillar!

We are waiting for our Butterflies to hatch out of their cocoons!
The Pre-school children did a lovely dot to dot activity to create their own butterflies. We have been learning all about the life cycle and it has been a great experience to watch them turning from caterpillars into cocoons in real time.

This morning we had man called Ben from Zoolab come to visit us, he bought along some of his animals for us to look at.
There was a giant African snail called Gary, a Millipede called Mango, a Tree frog called Binks, a Cornsnake called Wonder, a gerbil called Cocoa and a Tarantula!
The children absolutely loved meeting all the animals and giving them strokes, some children were very brave and even held them!

We have been making the most of the lovely weather the last couple of weeks and have been spending lots of time outside.
The children have been planting lots of sunflower and pepper seeds. The Preschool let the tiny frogs free into the pond and enjoyed holding them to to say Bye!
The children also celebrated Earth Day and did some litter picking in the garden and we talked lots about keeping our outdoor spaces free from litter to protect animals.

This week we have been enjoying the sunshine spending time in our allotment to see what's been growing!
We have also loved exploring mini beasts, there have been lots of bug messy trays and the children in Preschool have been reading Betsy Bug Love. We love Springtime!
