The children used their curiosity and imagination outdoors as they explored a range of loose parts to create their own obstacle course. They worked together to arrange crates, planks, tyres and other resources, making decisions about how to safely move through the course. As they balanced, climbed, stepped and navigated around the obstacles, they developed their gross motor skills, coordination and sptial awareness.

WE HAVE SPACES AVAILABLE

We are a small nurturing term time only Preschool that cares for children aged 2-5yrs old. Our setting is curious and creative and sees every child as an individual. The opportunities we offer on and off site, provide children with experiences that promote learning through play.
We spend time in the local community visiting "the nannies" at Heaton House dementia care home and taking trips to the allotment site close by to explore the different plots and community spaces within it.
We have beefit run sessions regularly that promote physical co-ordination and body awareness in a fun musical way.
We also have visits from farm animals and reptiles and hatch chicks from eggs in the spring.
We are working towards curiosity approach accreditation which explores the benefits of providing authentic resources that develop imagination through investigation.

Yesterday we introduced our new pottery wheel for the children to explore. As an initial investigation we used mark making materials on paper which generated questions regarding patterns and the spirals similarity to snails shells.
The children will continue to explore their interest in "swails" today by investigating provocations around the environment that stimulate enquiry into patterns and how to recreate spirals including tearing paper and considering large spirals on different surfaces vertical and horizontal.

Today, our children enjoyed a snail-themed Play-Doh activity, using their imagination to create their own little snails. They practised rolling, squeezing and shaping the Play-Doh, helping to develop their fine motor skills and hand strength. They explored the snailā€™s shape and spiral shell while talking about their creations and sharing ideas with others. It was wonderful to see their creativity, curiosity and confidence as they learned through this fun, hands-on activity. šŸŒ

Today we have revisited clay and the children have been developing new skills to make a pinch pot. Some of the children then rolled some clay to create a handle. They learnt how to smooth out joins using slip and how to use a pipettes to create it.

They used water to make slip and pipettes to add water their clay. By using a variety of tools and sponges the children created different textures, using words like
"slimey"
"Smooth"
