Yesterday we went curious shopping with the children. We took two small groups to choose an item to take back to nursery to explore. They chose a variety of interesting authentic objects that we discussed this morning and talked about how we would look after them using gentle hands. We also discussed that the objects were for sharing and would be fir Today we have been practicing our gentle hands by using an electric typewriter. The children used a sand timer to take turns and learn patience while exploring curious technology. We had great fun recognising letters and how to change the type from lower case to upper case to enjoy. We have spent the morning developing imagination using our new resources

This term the children have developed a strong interest in life cycles. This has been generated by the arrival of some caterpillars that have now gone into cocoon as well as the arrival this week of some eggs that have now started to hatch into chicks. The children have been able to observe the changes each animal has made as well as handle and stroke the chicks.
We have provided a variety of exoetiences linked to caterpillars and the hungry caterpillar book including creative colour mixing as well as healthy fruit skewers that generated duscussiobs around butterflies and caterpillars. We have had many discussions around how we look after other living things as well as being able to use gentle and kind hands when stroking the chicks. We have focused alot on what our hands are used for and positive messages around good things we can do with our hands like waving signing and being gentle when touching baby animals and other people. We are looking forward to seeing how the chicks continue to grow and spending time feeding them before they go back home on friday.
We have also visited the allotments to look fir frogs spawn and tadpoles in the community pond as well as growing sunflower seeds and nurturing them to grow
