Wishing all children a great first day back at school entering their new classrooms. This one is for the parents 🥰

It's the first day of a new term on Thursday for pupils at TAB infants and junior school. We look forward to welcoming everyone back at West Worthing Childcare and can't wait to hear about your summer holidays adventures.

If anyone needs to arrange last minute childcare for the inset day tomorrow we are open 8.30-5.30 and spaces are available for after school care on Mondays and Thursdays.

West Worthing childcare will be closed until 29th July. We are open on 1st, 2nd and 3rd September providing childcare 8.30-5.30 and after school care for pupils at TAB will resume on 4th. We hope you enjoy your summer holidays ☀️🏖️🌊

Have your children just broken up for the summer holidays? Here's why you need to give them at least the rest of this week to decompress.

The end of term is tiring for everyone; parents, teachers and children. As much as we may have lovely plans for different activities over the coming weeks, what our children really need as they adjust to a new rhythmn for the next month, is time and space and patience.

Adjusting to the school holidays often sees a release of pent-up feelings and difficult behaviour. Whining, Grouchiness. Reluctance to do anything. Expect big behaviours, outbursts, or simple refusal to get dressed or leave the house.

We may have arranged a lovely day out, or booked them into an exciting holiday club (that sometimes they just have to go to for childcare reasons) but often what they want is just to be at home, not doing much and letting go of everything they've been bottling up for the last few weeks.

What can you do to help? Be patient, be understanding. Don't take difficult behaviour personally and hold off the plans until next week.

What if you can't do that and they have to go to holiday club? Everything I've just mention and even more so with the understanding, containing, taking deep breaths, being there for lots of hugs in the evenings and not taking behaviour personally - and then, quiet weekends for the first couple of weeks.
