We believe all children have the right to be understood as individuals and to be given an opportunity to develop as creative, competent learners in an inspiring environment with lots of access to the outdoors We draw our inspiration from the infant-toddler centres and pre-schools of Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy and we operate a Forest School taking children aged 3-5 years into local woodland.

RunRun is our nursery tortoise. She is 10 years old.
She was the size of a 50p coin when she arrived with us.
The children look after her - they feed her, give her her water, bathe her and take her for regular visits to the garden to get vitamin D - children develop an understanding of what she can forage from the garden.
She goes into hibernation each winter.

Beautiful set up for the Toddlers in our Maple room to celebrate World Environmental Day 2026.
The educators used natural materials from our gardens to create this beautiful small world tray for the children. Small sticks were incorporated, along with a repurposed scissors holder, to provide opportunities for fine motor development through poking and placing activities. This engaging experience encouraged children to explore natural materials while strengthening their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

⭐ National Early Years Teacher Day ⭐
Today on National Early Years Teacher Day, we want to take a moment to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to each and every one of our amazing team for the incredible work they do.
Every single day, what they bring to our setting makes a real and lasting difference. It is seen in the warm welcomes they give children and families at the start of the day, the patience and care they show in every interaction, the creativity they bring to learning experiences, and the calm reassurance they provide when children need it most. It is also in the small, often unseen moments – the comforting hug, the extra time taken to support a child, the observation that helps us understand a child’s needs more deeply, and the teamwork that keeps everything running smoothly.
Even when the children are not present, their hard work does not stop. They continue to develop their skills, reflect on their practice, and thoughtfully create wonderful new invitations to support children’s learning and development. This is evident in the photos from one of our recent training days, where their dedication, creativity, and passion truly shone through.
To our wonderful team - If it wasn’t for you, our setting simply wouldn’t be what it is. You are the reason children feel safe, happy, and ready to learn, and the reason families trust us with what matters most to them. Please know how valued and appreciated you are – not just today, but every day. Your dedication, professionalism, kindness, and resilience do not go unnoticed. Thank you for everything you do!

Reflections Nursery & Forest School # Career Journey: From Apprentice to Nursery Leader!
Each month we will be introducing a member of our team and the route that they have taken into, what we consider to be, the best profession in the world!
This week is the wonderful Lauren (or Lozz as we all know her).
We're incredibly proud to spotlight Lozz's remarkable journey with our nursery family! Starting as an apprentice in 2014, Lozz has grown through dedication and passion to become Deputy Head of Nursery.
Lozz's commitment to inclusive childcare led her to train as a SENCO, ensuring ALL children receive the support they need to thrive. Her dedication was recognised at last year's company conference where she received the prestigious "Little Dukes Staff Member of the Year Award".
When she's not creating nurturing environments for our little ones, Lozz enjoys watching rugby matches and spending quality time with her partner and beloved dog, Harley!
Join us in celebrating Lozz's inspiring career progression - a true testament to how passion and hard work can transform an apprenticeship into leadership!
