Keeping cool in our fruit and herb water tray! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿชด

Using the scoops and pots we enjoyed spending time emptying and filling with the cold water to feel the cool splashes as the water landed in the tray!
We also explored the different fruits and herbs feeling textures and smelling the citrus slices as well as tasting some fresh cold fruit from the fridge to help us keep cool!

We hope you have managed to stay cool in the heat wave, we will be spending the rest of this week in the ice and water play! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Coral Reefs ๐Ÿชธ๐Ÿ

This morning, the children explored with different materials and colours while creating their own coral reefs. The children used the pasta shells to create patterns and imprints in the playdough.

We talked about how fish can blend in with the coral as they use it for camouflage to hide from predators in their environment. We also talked about the importance of caring for our oceans to maintain the colourful coral. The children were very engaged and used their imagination as they came up with some of their own scenarios for what may happen under the sea.

Beach canvas โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ

We headed down to the beach on our turtle bus and enjoyed some canvas paining!

We used our fine motor skills to use paint brushes, paint rollers and shells and stones to dip into the paint and make patterns on the canvas. Mixing colour and feeling textures in our hands with the view of the sea and sounds of the waves behind us!

Littlehampton Miniature Railway!

We stopped off first to Mewsbrook Park where we had some snack and a drink before exploring the lake! We saw lots of different birds on our walk around the park such as swans, pigeons, ducks and seagulls. We also saw lots of bees and bugs whilst looking at the flower beds, we spoke about how bees take the pollen out of the flowers to then make honey!

We then boarded the miniature train where we got our own sticker tickets and the driver spoke to us about the train! We saw lots of squirrels and birds whilst we travelled through the woodland and also saw the crazy golf course too! We then travelled back and also saw lots of dogs and people to wave to before heading back to
Nursery for a delicious lunch! ๐Ÿš‚โ˜€๏ธ

Crab Life Drawing ๐Ÿฆ€

Today the children took part in a life drawing activity, carefully observing a crab that we collected from the fishmongers. We explored the crab's different features, including its claws, eyes, legs, and shell, discussing how each part helps it survive in its habitat.

The children learned about how crabs move sideways and how they use their claws to catch and hold their food. They looked closely at all the details of the crab, noticing its textures, shapes, and patterns before creating their own drawings.

This activity encouraged the children to develop their observation skills, concentration, and attention to detail while learning more about marine life through first-hand experiences. ๐Ÿฆ€๐Ÿš

๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿš‚ A Recent Visit to Amberley Museum!
Our children had a fantastic day exploring Amberley Museum, where history, transport, and science came to life.

We enjoyed learning about different jobs and machinery from the past, spotting old-fashioned clothes and shoes, and visiting the print press, where we saw impressive printing equipment in action before collecting our tickets for a train ride.

The railway exhibition was a real highlight, with brightly coloured trains to discover and stories about how some had featured in television programmes and films. The interactive electricity section encouraged plenty of curiosity as the children pressed buttons, turned wheels, explored scientific concepts, and even generated electricity themselves.

We finished our adventure by visiting the buses and fire station, where the children enjoyed looking at the different firefighter uniforms worn throughout the years.

Experiences like these help children make connections between their learning and the wider world as well as encouraging curiosity and confidence!

Beach school week 3 ๐ŸŒŠ

The sunshine returned for week 3 of beach school
Which included:

๐ŸŒŠ building moats and sandcastles, working as a team to dig and fill buckets and transport water to fill the moats from the sea to our construction area!
๐ŸŒŠ using beach natural resources to creat our own earth out of play dough looking at textures and indent patterns
๐ŸŒŠ talking about keeping the earth safe and clean especially the ocean and doing a litter pick along the beach.

The group used their communication skills to work together to fill the moats with water, working out what was the best way to do it and enjoyed splashing and exploring the shallow waters at the same time! โ˜€๏ธ

Winnie the Pooh is celebrating his 100th anniversary so we took a trip to his home in the 100 acre woods! ๐Ÿป๐ŸŒณ

What better way to spend a rainy morning at Pooh corner enjoying some warm buttery Pooh toast!
We also enjoyed looking around the museum at all the models and toys from over the years talking about our favourite characters!

We also enjoyed exploring in the park area using our gross motor skills to balance and climb!

If you havenโ€™t already been we highly recommend a visit, itโ€™s one of our favourite trips to revisit and we couldnโ€™t miss the opportunity to wish Pooh bear a very happy 100th birthday! ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽ‚

We are very lucky and have many park areas nearby we can play and explore and travel to on our mini bus!

We are able to put our physical skills to the test and make memories with friends taking part in group games.

A tease of summer but seem we may be back in our welly boots next week as we see rain is forecastโ€ฆ.we hope you have all been able to keep cool in the heat this half term!

๐Ÿง–Nursery School Spa!๐Ÿง–

Today was all about relaxation and mindfulness as we enjoyed a lovely spa experience at nursery! The children put on their comfy pyjamas and snuggly spa robes before moving from station to station. We started with a hand and foot massage using a lovely baby oil, which made their skin feel wonderful! The children had a great time placing cucumbers on their eyes for a refreshing treat. We then indulged in a warm foot spa infused with zesty lemons, washing away the oils from our massages!

To wrap up our tranquil morning, we all went outside on the decking for a calming yoga session in the sunshine! โ˜€๏ธ
