📚Pop down to your local library and join their summer reading scheme.
I did this with mine a couple of days ago and my daughter has already filled in 3 of the 6 reading reviews and has had a go at some of the other challenges 😃

📚 The library also had free activities such as a character hunt, colouring and book reviews. As well as all the books you could ever want to peruse at your leisure.

Next time you hear, "I'm rubbish at maths!"
Instead of saying, "No you're not!"
Ask, "What part felt tricky?"

It shows you believe the struggle is real, not the label. That small shift changes everything.

📚How to make reading aloud less scary📚

If reading aloud makes your child's shoulders creep up to their ears, try this: read the page together first, quietly, just the two of you. Let them hear the words before they have to say them. Confidence comes from familiarity, not pressure. Small steps, big difference.

🧮A gentle way to explain times tables without the stress 🧮

Times tables don't have to mean flashcards and tears. Try skip-counting together on a walk -- 'every third lamp post is a 3, what comes next?'
It turns recall into a game, and games don't feel like failure. Keep it fun! 🥳

Sometimes what looks like 'not trying' is actually 'too scared to get it wrong'.

Here are 3 gentle signs it's confidence, not ability, that needs the support.
1) They say 'I'm just bad at maths' before even starting.
2) They rush to finish rather than to understand.
3) They go quiet or shut down when they're stuck.

None of these mean your child can't do it -- they mean your child needs to feel safe to try.

I'm Natalie, a Teacher turned Tutor. I've worked in schools for over 14 years teaching a range of ages, year groups and classes with most of my experience being in Year 6. Having stepped out of the classroom I carry with me the same values and approach to helping the pupils I tutor.

I believe that children learn best when they feel calm, relaxed and celebrated. I have a gentle approach that builds confidence and knowledge.
