Goodbye Year 6! Although there were only 11 of you, you filled our school with love, leadership and laughter and we will really miss you! A weeks of VIP treatment included a fabulous balloon arch, motivational goodbye messages, a Guard of Honour as you left… and a visit from the ice-cream van! We hope you have the most wonderful summer and we will be thinking about you on your first day at secondary school in September. You will be AMAZING!

We loved sharing our excellent work with our parents and family members during our recent Art Showcase! Whipman Woods Flying High Academy became an art gallery, with each classroom revealing yet more of our talent. From collage to screen-prints to pencil sketches to sewing, we showed off a range of amazing skills and knowledge and our visitors couldn’t have been more amazed at what they saw. This was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon at the end of term celebrating our breathtaking work and providing a real purpose for its creation. A real highlight was a video of the fashion show recently held by Maple Class to model their fantastic t-shirts, embroidered with motivational motifs. Thank you for joining us!

What a beautiful summer’s evening for a wonderful community event – Whipman Woods’ Summer Fair!

Although this was only our second-ever Summer Fair, that unmistakable community spirit made it feel like such a special occasion. Many of our stalls were run by the children, all excited to see how much they could grow their £10 starting investment through their mini enterprise projects. The competition was fierce… as were the temperatures this evening! 🌞

Thank you to everyone who supported us or came along. We feel incredibly lucky to have a community as special as you. Your time, your kindness, and the way you support us are things we will never take for granted.

Each year, we achieve a little bit more together, and that is the truly special and unique thing about being part of Team Whipman. This year’s Summer Fair was a little more adventurous than last year’s… and so we grow – bigger, better, but ALWAYS TOGETHER! 💚 🌳

Once we have counted the funds raised from this event, along with all of our summer projects so far, we’ll be delighted to share our grand total for Summer 2026.

But for now… just ❤️ THANK YOU! ❤️

✨ Maple Class T-Shirt Showcase! ✨

This term, Maple Class have been busy designing and creating their own T-shirts as part of their art and design learning, inspired by the work of Bob and Roberta Smith.

Using positive themes such as kindness, caring for our planet and the importance of creativity, the children planned, painted and sewed their own unique designs. They showed fantastic imagination, resilience and growing confidence throughout the project.

This week, they proudly modelled their finished creations in a whole-school T-shirt catwalk celebration! We are so proud of their creativity, effort and craftsmanship. Their amazing designs show how art can inspire, communicate and bring people together.

🌟 Celebrating an Incredible Achievement at Whipman Woods! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to share another exciting achievement by our children!

As has been shared previously, Lewis in Oak Class was the proud winner of a competition that preceded the launch of the new Agreed Syllabus for RE in Nottinghamshire. Reyon, in Maple Class, also entered the competition and his work was highly commended.

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Sally McDonald from SACRE, who visited our school to present Lewis with his fantastic prizes – £100 in book vouchers and a copy of the new Nottinghamshire RE syllabus, featuring Lewis’ artwork on the front cover! 📚🎉

During her visit, Sally spent time with both Lewis and Reyon, talking to them about the choices they had made within their work. She was incredibly impressed by the depth of understanding they demonstrated in their discussions. It was an incredibly proud moment for everyone at Whipman Woods.

Following her visit, Sally emailed us with this lovely message:

Thank you for the warm welcome to your lovely school yesterday. It was a real joy to meet Lewis and Reyon – what a credit to the school they are.

Thanks again for entering the competition and encouraging your children to think deeply about the big questions in life.
