Worksop College and Ranby House Preparatory School is situated in 60 acres of outstanding countryside in North Nottinghamshire. The Nursery and Pre-Prep take children from 3 to 7 years in a dedicated building allowing the very young child to feel safe and secure within a happy and relaxed environment, with a seamless transition to the Prep School for ages 7 to 11, whereupon most of our pupils cont

inue to Worksop College our senior school. The school’s facilities inside and outside the classroom are excellent and include: a Performing Arts Centre which houses a 300 seat Theatre and Music School; a large Sports Centre with Sports Hall and changing rooms; three ICT suites to complement the school’s fully networked intranet; a Design Technology Centre; a Library; two Science Laboratories; a well equipped Art Studio; a dedicated Chapel; four floodlit all-weather netball/tennis courts; extensive level playing fields; and a dedicated boarding house. The Nursery children also enjoy the facilities that a forest school has to offer – learning and exploring in the woods. Our boarders are looked after by dedicated houseparents who live, with their family, in the school. Flexible boarding allows pupils to stay all week, part of a week, on one or two nights each week or even occasionally when it suits their own family needs. Our boarding house has spacious, colourful bedrooms as well as common rooms equipped with televisions, computers and games consoles. An extensive after-school programme of activities is provided. At 11 years the majority of pupils transfer to Worksop College (Independent HMC Day & Boarding School for 11 – 18 years), our senior school within Woodard Schools (Nottinghamshire) Ltd, and only five miles in distance from the Prep school. Over the past three years, a total of 58 Awards for academic, musical, sporting, art, all-round excellence and leadership have been gained by our pupils transferring to their senior independent school. The school is non-selective and caters for children of all abilities including those with specific learning difficulties. The school is extremely well-situated half a mile from the A1 and close to the A57/A614. Extensive daily morning and evening bus routes, which the school shares with Worksop College, are available from the surrounding area of Bassetlaw, Rotherham, Doncaster, Mansfield, Newark and Southwell, all providing easy access from a wide area. We also offer extensive before and after school care (7.45am - 6.30pm). Bursaries and Scholarships are available. You are warmly invited to contact us to arrange to come and visit, meet the Headmaster, staff and pupils and tour the school, to discover how our environment would inspire your child.

Speech Day at Ranby House 2026… what a lovely day it was 💙

With families gathered on the lawns and children proudly collecting their prizes, it was one of those days that reminds you exactly what makes Ranby House so special!

We celebrated our prize winners, but also the achievements of the school as a whole - progress made, the friendships formed, the challenges overcome and all the moments that have shaped the year.

We were delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Luke Staton, whose inspiring story and thoughtful message about making the most of opportunities gave everyone plenty to think about.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Ranby House without a proper celebration afterwards - ice creams, food trucks, picnics, prosecco and families enjoying the afternoon together on the grounds. It was a wonderful atmosphere and a real reminder of the strong sense of community we have here - thank you to everyone who was there! 🧺🍓🌼

There was also an emotional moment as we said goodbye to staff leavers and Mrs Payne, a much-loved and long-standing member of staff. Her care, dedication and support have meant so much to generations of children and families, and she will be hugely missed 🤍

To all of our prize winners, well done - you should be incredibly proud of yourselves.

And to our leavers, thank you. It has been a privilege to watch you grow during your time at Ranby House. We know you’ll go on to do wonderful things, and we hope you’ll always look back on your time here with fond memories.

A beautiful end to a wonderful chapter ☀️

Speech Day 2026... a very special day indeed ❤️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate another incredible year at Worksop College - dare we say the best celebrations yet?!

Congratulations to all of our prize winners, and thank you to our Guest Speaker, OW Richard Windsor, for such lovely words!

From VIP drinks (kindly sponsored by our preferred hotel partner, Crown Hotel Bawtry 🍸), to an unforgettable lunch by Wilson Vale (seafood platters, hog roast, local charcuterie, pasta stations, ice cream vans... we definitely didn't go hungry 😍🍦), every detail helped make the day one to remember. A special thank you to the teams who made this so special for all!

There was plenty happening across the site too – a traditional cricket match, concerts filling the school with music, our Pupil Showcase celebrating 130 years of academic excellence, and the CCF Parade marking the handover of responsibility to our newly appointed Captains of School.

Throw in The Millhouse Horsebox Bar keeping everyone refreshed, a photobooth full of smiles, and the chance to catch up with friends old and new... and you've got a pretty special day!

Thank you to everyone who came and made it a special day - see all photos here 👉 https://tinyurl.com/3e878u4r
