We've held on to this fantastic server unit for a while but have finally found a fantastic new home for it with Crags Radio in Creswell. It will hopefully help support the station's plans to open its second studio πŸ™πŸ€©

Shout out to Ockbrook and Borrowash Techcycle who passed this machine onto Worksop Techcyclers, originally donated by a local Derbyshire business as surplus tech.

Holidays over, we've picked up tools once again and started bringing more devices back to life from our repairs backlog 🧰πŸͺ›πŸ’»

This fantastic slimline laptop has been long awaiting a new screen and lid. We recently donated it, via the The Oasis Centre. Kilton, Worksop. to a student who is starting college. We wish her the best of luck in her studies!

Although our FB posts have been quiet, I'd like to thank everyone who has reached out to us and kindly donated to the Techcycle project over the past months. Continued donations keep the project alive! πŸ™

We've been quietly refurbishing and building a small batch of devices that we can use to support the Lean & Learn scheme run by From The Heart Charity

Worksop Techcyclers will now be focusing efforts on supporting the Lend & Learn scheme run by the fantastic team at From The Heart Charity based in Worksop.

We'll be focusing on laptop and tablet devices. If you have a relatively modern device that is surplus to needs or is in need of a bit of TLC and you are able to donate, please reach out to From the Heart Charity.

Lend & Learn Scheme πŸ’»πŸ’—

At FTHC we have a Lend and Learn Scheme available for families and children who are struggling to access online learning/training due to not having a compatible device πŸ’—

We have teamed up with Jaycee's Pc's and Worksop Techcyclers who are helping us restore and repair laptops/tablets so they are ready to be distributed to families that require them πŸ’—

We are trying our best to support these families and we are looking for donations of devices suitable to restore and donate. If you have a device you are wanting to donate, please private message the charity to arrange drop off/collection πŸ₯°

We made a great donation today in support of The Edge project run by The Oasis Centre. Kilton, Worksop. It was a pleasure to met Josh who is the project's driving force! ☺️

The Techcycle has donated six great desktop workstations to The Edge. Some of these are Intel Xeon devices and were among the devices donated to us by regional businesses.

The Edge project is creating a safe space for men of all ages and aims to support men who are in need or in crisis. The project is also building up its programme of events and activities to include offering support for learning essential digital skills.

Huge thanks to all those who have donated to the Techcycle over the past year πŸ™

Donated a Samsung Tab S that I managed to bring back to life, to From The Heart Charity this afternoon.

Hoping it will make a welcomed gift to one of the local families that FTHC are helping 😊

We still have a few older laptops that have been fully refurbed into usable netbooks and great desktop workstations (donated from a local business) that are looking for new homes. Worksop Techcyclers is happy to support any local charities and community groups that can put these devices to good use! πŸ‘

A few more laptops refurbed and donated to From The Heart Charity and their work in support of local families.

Huge thanks to Anne and Chris from Christ Church in Worksop who helped collect these recent laptop donations for Worksop Techcyclers πŸ™

Common to a number of older laptops we work with are broken we**ams and they can oftentimes be tricky to fix. While in the past people used to cover their cameras with tape or use permanent marker to block the lens, the pandemic has made having a working we**am an absolute essential! πŸ˜…

For speed and ease, we have donated two external we**ams with this batch of laptops to compensate for broken internal cameras. The external we**ams are from a large donation of surplus stock from a Chesterfield business, which we are still putting to good use. Thank you!
