🌟 Welcoming Our New Toddlers 🌟

It has been so lovely to welcome some of our new toddlers into our Toddler Room!

We understand that transitions are a big step for our little people, so we focus on creating a warm, secure and nurturing environment where they feels safe, valued and supported 🥰

As our toddlers become more comfortable, we are encouraging them to develop their independence through everyday experiences — making choices, exploring their environment, having a go at activities and building confidence in their own abilities.

And most importantly… we’re having lots of fun 🥳

From exploring in the water, to being creative with drawing, and enjoying the fresh air and freedom of outdoor play, our new toddlers are already making early memories, building friendships and learning through play.

We are so proud of how well they have settled and can’t wait to see all the learning, confidence and independence that continues to grow! 🌈✨

HAND FOOT AND MOUTH OUTBREAK

We have a large number of children in the nursery with Hand Foot and Mouth 😔

Symptoms include -
☑️ generally feeling unwell
☑️ high temperature
☑️ loss of appetite
☑️ spots on the hands, feet, around the mouth and sometimes the groin area

This is highly contagious therefore we ask for children to be kept at home for 5-7 days. Your child must be fully well to return to nursery.
We will be refusing children returning too early and calling parents to collect children who show any of the above symptoms ❤️

Please adhere to these rules to eliminate the spread

Thank you for your co-operation as always 🌈

🍂🎨 Autumn Hand & Finger Painting 🎨🍂

Our babies have been getting creative this week exploring colours of autumn through finger and hand painting! 🤎

Using autumnal colours, the babies were encouraged to explore the paint with their hands and fingers, creating their own pictures while enjoying a great sensory experience 🖐️✨

This simple activity supports so many areas of learning within the EYFS:

🍁 Physical Development – Using fingers, hands and arms helps strengthen muscles and develop coordination, control and early fine-motor skills.

🍁 Expressive Arts & Design – Babies can explore colour, texture, movement and the process of creating, allowing them to express themselves freely.

🍁 Communication & Language – Practitioners can introduce words such as orange, brown, yellow, soft, sticky, cold, warm and autumn, supporting babies to build their understanding of language.

🍁 Understanding the World – Exploring autumn colours provides opportunities to talk about the changing seasons and what we can see happening in the world around us.

🍁 Personal, Social & Emotional Development – Sensory experiences encourage curiosity, confidence.

Most importantly, our babies are learning through play, exploration and discovery — getting messy, having fun and creating something of their own 🥰🍂🎨

🎶📚 Singing & Song Books for Our Pre-Toddlers 📚🎶

Singing and sharing song books with our little ones is so much more than just fun! In our Pre-Toddler Room, we use songs, rhymes and singing storybooks to support children’s development in lots of ways.

🎵 Communication & Language
Repetition of songs and rhymes helps children hear new words and sounds, supporting their growing vocabulary and communication skills.

🧠 Memory
Familiar songs encourage children to remember words and actions, building their listening and attention skills.

👏 Physical Development
Through our action song books, we encourage children to move, clap and copy actions, supporting coordination and body awareness.

😊 Confidence & Social Skills
Joining in with a familiar song gives children opportunities to participate, take turns and express themselves alongside their peers.

❤️ Emotional Regulation
Singing together creates connection between children and their key person/familiar adults, helping them to feel safe and secure when they come to nursery.

📖 A Love of Books
We think a love of books is very important at an early age! Song books use music, rhythm and pictures to help children develop positive relationships with books from an early age.

Sometimes the simplest activities have the biggest impact🌟🎶📚

All About Autumn 🍁🪴🍂

Our toddlers have been noticing some changes in our environment as we approach the autumn season. This month we have been learning all about Autumn, leaves, conkers and colours.

We have encouraged our children to go for lots of Autumn walks to collect Autumnal things such as leaves and conkers.

We have used the collected things for our creative activities including rolling leaves and conkers in a tray with paint to make marks.

Our intent for our Autumn learning is as follows:

🍂 lots of opportunity for sensory exploration
🍁 developing fine motor skills
🍂 developing hand eye coordination and early muscle strength by grasping, dropping and rolling
🍁 sensory awareness - exploring different textures
🍂 understanding the world and environment around us
🍁 colours
🍂 early maths - shape, size, weight

There is a reason behind every learning opportunity 🌈🍂

COUNTING 🔢

This week our pre-school children have been practicing counting accurately and building their knowledge of number recognition.

The children had to identify the number and use the tweezers to count the correct number of objects.

We planned this activity purposefully to develop the following learning:

🌈 identifying and naming numbers
🌈 saying one number name for each object
🌈 number recognition and familiarisation
🌈 building fine motor skills which is very important for early foundations for handwriting

Well done to our superstars for super counting! ⭐️

Spooky Sensory Morning 🕷️👻

This morning our Pre-Toddler’s have had lots of fun participating in a Halloween themed sensory session led by the practitioners.

The session included:

🧡 Halloween songs that the children could move their bodies to, using light up musical instruments and sensory lights
🧡 Parachute play with balloons

This activity supported the children to develop their understanding of the world through their sensory impulses. The children could listen to sounds, explore textures and develop their movement skills.

The children also enjoyed participating in parachute games. They enjoyed dancing underneath, and performed actions like jumping, lifting and shaking. These movements help to consolidate and strengthen their gross motor skills. This was also a great activity to develop PSED skills by engaging with peers and interacting with one another.

Finally, we listened to some Halloween themed numeracy songs, which helped to support early mathematics skills of counting to 5.
