Wise owls and Little Owls had the pleasure of being joined by Stem Ambassador Noel, from the University of Worcester. The Lab technician came to show and get the children involved with lots of different Science experiments. The experiments were fascinating and we were all very excited! Our favourite experiment was the magic of a Genie appearing from a cloud of smoke. We had a fantastic time and we cannot thank Noel enough 🧪🥼👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

As part of our exploration of the understanding of the world we have been looking at how things grow and how to care for living things. The children have independently watered these strawberry plants and they are extremely proud of how well they have grown. Here’s a snapshot of some of our strawberries, we can’t wait to taste them 🍓🪴

Today we had the pleasure of being visited by one of our parents who works for Gentle Dental Care. Holly and her colleague, Holly, spoke to the children about the importance of brushing their teeth twice a day. They brought along with them a big toothbrush and big set of teeth to allow the children to practise their brushing technique! We talked about different foods that are good to eat to help us have happy, healthy teeth. A really important fact that was shared with us was that when we brush our teeth, it is super important not to rinse our mouths out with water, so all the goodness from the toothpaste stays on our teeth. Thank you so much for a wonderful visit- we learnt lots and had fun doing so!🦷😁🪥

This afternoon we were very lucky to be joined by one of our lovely parents, whose profession is a Doctor. This visit coincides with our theme ‘People who help us’.
She spoke to the children about what they could expect when visiting the doctors and how they help us to feel better. She let us use her stethoscope to listen to our heartbeats and reassured us that it is not scary when visiting the doctors. Our favourite part was when she asked us to roar like lions, as that is a fun way of doctors checking to make sure our throats are healthy. 🩺👩‍⚕️

Between the 15th May and the 15th June 2023 it is National Smile Week. �This campaign is designed to promote the practice of good oral hygiene for all! �I know that most of you already have but now is a crucial time to get your child's teeth looked at as well as getting them familiar and comfortable with going to the dentist. �We talk about visiting the dentist and the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day during circle time- we would love if you could do the same, especially encouraging your children to brush their teeth! 🦷

We have been on an adventure this morning to forest school, on the hunt for minibeasts 🐞🪱🦋 What great fun the children had exploring the environment using different tools. Have a look what we got up to…

What an ‘eggcellent’ day we have had today🐣🍫
As Easter is just around the corner, we have had lots of Easter themed activities taking place throughout the day.
This morning, The Fledglings created an Easter filled tuff tray with lots of objects that we were able to explore using our senses.
Later on during the day, we all took part in an Easter Egg Hunt. We had a brilliant time and loved working together to find the hidden eggs!

We have been out exploring our local area this morning. We started off with a trip to the local bookshop where the children picked a book of their choice to bring back to nursery and share with their friends. We then visited Sainsburys where the children independently pushed the trolley and scanned the shopping. This was thirsty work so we stopped off at Colstons Bakery for a snack and a drink before making our way back to nursery.

Getting Spring Ready 🌱
This week, we have been learning about growth and new life as we are welcoming in the new season. We have been planting seeds and clearing up the garden ready to plant even more! Keep an eye out for all of our beautiful flowers, fruit and vegetables growing 🌻

World Book Day 2023 📚
Thank you to everyone who dressed up for World Book Day. We loved seeing all of your outfits and sharing all of your favourite books!
Also, a special thank you to Oldbury Park who came in earlier this week and read stories to our Little Owls and Wise Owls. Both the children and the adults had a lovely time!
