Statutory from today - Information Sharing Duty

".............there is no requirement for a child to meet a particular statutory threshold before information can be shared. Under the information sharing duty, information must be shared where it is relevant to safeguarding and promoting a child’s welfare, including where concerns relate to early help, prevention and unmet need."

Glue ear is very common in young children and is when the middle ear becomes filled with sticky fluid. For ears to work properly, the middle ear needs to be kept full of air. Early Years SENCOs - Have you been told aboutl your Inclusive Early Years Funding payment? Department for Education guidance states:
"Local authorities should ensure providers receiving an allocation from the IEYF receive an amount that is substantial enough to effect meaningful change in inclusive practice at setting level. We recommend this is in the region of £1,000 per setting. This is to ensure providers receiving the grant have a sufficient level of funding to develop mainstream inclusive practice. As such, local authorities are not required to fund all providers in their area and could apply a minimum funding threshold to achieve meaningful allocations." Have a good term!
An important reminder - think stage not age. The EYFS Statutory Framework makes it clear that this is a requirement. It might be useful to show the references below to those who don't seem to understand.

Page 16, 1.12 Practitioners should be ambitious for all children. To do this they must consider the individual needs, interests, and development of each child in their care. They must use this information to plan a challenging and enjoyable experience for each child in all areas of learning and development.

Page 17, 1.16 Practitioners must stimulate children’s interests, responding to each child’s emerging needs and guiding their development through warm, positive interactions coupled with secure routines for play and learning.

Page 17, 1.18 In planning and guiding what children learn, practitioners must reflect on the different rates at which children are developing and adjust their practice appropriately.
