How are you spending the time you have with your children?

Speaker: Dr. Gabor Maté @gabormatemd
Source: Behind the Curtain with Gabor Maté. On Childhood, Parenting, Vocation, Marriage, Divorce & Healing | Mind Architect @mindarchitect.ro

More than ever before, parents and children are separated, at least in the United States.

Most families require two working parents. Everyone utilizes daycare and school at a high rate as care centers for our children. That includes programs before and after school, limiting the time spent together.

Add in the reality of the pace of society and families, particularly parents, always finding themselves busy and burdened with tasks, and the amount of quality time we have is decreasing.

It's an unfortunate reality of our situation, but all hope isn't lost.

There's still a lot of time left for our families, and we can experience many of the important interactions as long as we are intentional about it.

But we need to put down our phones and devices, protect family time together, and ensure we're making the most of it.

The intentionality we have around our family is the difference between us (the parents) raising our children and their peers, teachers, and daycare providers raising them instead.

This is such a message🙌🏻
Just this week in a parent consultation, I discussed ‘slowing down’ the time we spend with our children at the end of their day. How do we feel as adults when we are not heard or we feel rushed through a moment of need for nurture? 🤔

If there is one gift we can give to our children, it is to heal the trauma from our own childhood 🙌🏻

Drop a ❤️ if this resonated with you today AND remember, there’s no such thing as perfect parenting—it’s about showing up with good intentions, being present, and staying mindful.
