Stop teaching your children what a dangerous person looks like.

Because most dangerous people don’t look dangerous.

They don’t necessarily look frightening.

They may look friendly. Helpful. Normal.

Instead, teach your child to pay attention to behaviour.

Are they asking you to go somewhere?

Are they trying to change the plan your parents gave you?

Are they asking you to keep something secret?

Are they trying to get you into a car or somewhere more private?

Are they making you feel like you have to be polite when you really want to leave?

We can’t teach our children to recognise every dangerous person.

But we can teach them to recognise when someone’s behaviour changes their options.

That’s a skill they can actually use.

Not scared. Not paranoid. Prepared.
