What a lovely evening at The River School!

Families from Nursery, Primary and Seniors joined us for our first parent event of the new academic year, and there was a real buzz around school.

From new clubs and community service to exciting changes around our site, there was plenty to share, but most importantly, it was a chance to spend time together, strengthen connections and celebrate the community that makes The River so special.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We think An Evening at The River School may just have earned itself a regular place in the calendar!

Service starts close to home

This term, we’ve introduced a new Community Service afternoon for our Senior pupils, giving them regular opportunities to look beyond themselves, serve others and make a practical difference, both here at school and in our wider community.
And sometimes, making a difference starts right on your doorstep!

Some of our Year 7 and Year 9 pupils have been getting stuck into their first projects, revitalising an old outdoor table, giving our shed some much-needed attention and restoring the old barrels we use as tables around the school grounds.

Over the coming months, Community Service afternoons will see our pupils taking on all sorts of projects around the school site, as well as heading out into the local community.
It’s about much more than getting jobs done. It’s about learning to contribute, take responsibility, work alongside others and recognise that our time and talents can be used for the benefit of those around us.

We’ll be sharing plenty more of their projects as the year unfolds.

What if your child's education could nurture their faith as well as their future?

At The River School and Brook Nursery, Christian faith is not simply part of the school day. It shapes everything we do.
Every one of our teachers is a committed Christian, and children grow up surrounded by adults who seek to live out the faith they teach. Alongside this, small classes, individual attention and our beautiful eight-acre setting give children the space to flourish academically, spiritually and personally.
And it may be more affordable than you think. Our fees are around half those of many independent schools, with further help available through our Assisted Fees Programme.

What a wonderful start to the new school year!

It has been a joy to welcome all of our pupils back to The River School after the summer break, and especially to greet the newest members of our school community as they joined us for the very first time.

The corridors and classrooms have been filled with excitement as students have shared stories of their summer adventures, reunited with friends, and settled into their new classes. From the very first day, there has been a wonderful sense of enthusiasm, curiosity, and readiness to embrace all that the year ahead has to offer.

We are so proud of how positively our pupils have returned, throwing themselves into new learning opportunities, making new friendships, and getting stuck into school life with their usual energy and enthusiasm.

Here's to a fantastic year of learning, discovery, growth, and adventure ahead!

☀️Summer Fun Day☀️
We had a great day in the sun at our annual Summer Fun Day, complete with live music, crafts and stalls, face painting and a delicious BBQ! The day finished off with amazing performances from our students.

Our seniors had a fantastic day at this year’s Christian Schools’ Trust Sports Day in Oxford!
They returned with an impressive medal haul, securing five 1st-place finishes, one 2nd place and three 3rd-place finishes across the Discus, Javelin, Shot Put, 400m and 1500m events. What an incredible achievement!
We are so proud of every competitor. It was a wonderful day of cheering each other on, celebrating success and making lasting memories together.

On Friday, our Primary pupils enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating French culture and language.
Throughout the day, the children explored the lives of young people in France, studied famous French artists, and created some impressive Eiffel Tower models. The highlight of the afternoon was the opening of Café Joie de Vivre, where our young serveurs and serveuses proudly welcomed parents and family members to enjoy French-inspired drinks, snacks and a touch of Parisian ambience.
It was delightful to see so many children embracing the occasion by dressing in the colours of the French Tricolore – blue, white and red – helping to bring the spirit of France to life around the school.
A huge merci to our pupils for their enthusiasm and hard work, and to all the parents and families who joined us and supported this special event. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Café Joie de Vivre as much as we enjoyed hosting you!
