Come and visit this hidden Grade 2 * historical gem, originally built as a Countess of Huntingdon’s Connexion Chapel, in the heart of Worcester City Centre.

Pick up an information leaflet, just wander around, see the beautiful stained glass windows, sit in the original chapel pews or join a guided 20 minute tour running every hour.

About Tudor House:
Tudor House is an independent museum located on the picturesque Friar Street in the heart of the city. This timber-framed building dates back to the 16th century and was originally home to weavers and clothiers whose workshops produced woollen broadcloth, a trade that brought significant wealth to Worcester during the Medieval and Tudor periods.

Over the centuries, the building has served many roles, including the Cross Keys tavern, an ARP warden’s and billeting office during the 1940s, and even a children’s clinic for 50 years in the 20th century. Today, one of its most striking features is the beautifully preserved Tudor embossed ceiling in the bedchamber, a standout architectural highlight.

This is a carefully curated, small-group experience (not a standard museum visit) designed to give you deeper access, richer context and a more memorable connection to Worcester’s past.

Accessibility & Facilities: Tudor House Museum is a Grade II* Listed building with all the steps, stairs and quirks that that entails.
The Museum:
there is a level entrance into the corridor and courtyard with a ramp to allow access into the Coffee Shop. The tavern and Victorian kitchen are level. There are chairs available in all the rooms. There is no lift to the first floor.
Alternative Visit Box:
for those who can’t manage the stairs, we provide a visitor folder which gives information about all the Tudor Rooms. We will happily put this out in the Coffee Shop for you and provide a free tea/coffee to accompany it.
Other Measures:
We have magnifying viewers for visitors to use upon request. The lighting is usually bright but a torch is available if necessary. We welcome assistance dogs and can provide water for them.
Toilet:
there is a large, unisex, accessible toilet on the courtyard with vertical and horizontal handrails. The floor is made of slip-resistant tiles and the hot water is sensor-activated.
Coffee Shop:
we provide gluten-free crumpets and oat milk, available on request. Please note that we cannot guarantee that the cakes have been made in a nut-free environment. If you have a particular food intolerance or allergy, please contact us in advance of your visit.

What a wonderful evening we enjoyed last night at the magnificent Guildhall Worcester for our Collaborative Conservation event.

The opulent Assembly Room proved once again what a special setting it is for bringing people together to celebrate Worcester’s heritage. We were delighted to welcome over 90 guests in such a grand space, the room had a warm, lively atmosphere and there was a real buzz of conversation throughout the evening.

Our sincere thanks go to Stephen Hartland, Chair of the Birmingham and West Midlands Victorian Society, who very kindly stepped in at the last minute when our original speaker was unexpectedly called for surgery. Stephen delivered a fascinating and engaging talk, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for Victorian and Edwardian architecture and the importance of collaborative conservation. The informal feedback from attendees was extremely positive and his approachable style made the talk both informative and enjoyable.

We were also honoured to welcome The Mayor of Worcester, Dr Matt Lamb, who spoke eloquently at the close of the evening and generously referenced the work of the Worcester Civic Society several times, something that was greatly appreciated by everyone present.

A special thank you must go to the wonderful ladies of the Worcester Civic Office, who managed the hospitality so professionally. Their organisation of the drinks reception meant our team could focus on welcoming guests, circulating and chatting and even signing up seven new members which was fantastic to see. We were also very pleased to welcome visitors from Malvern Civic Society, who were extremely complimentary about the event.

The evening was hosted so smoothly thanks to the support of Lorraine Preece and the Worcester City Society's Events Team, whose help ensured everything ran seamlessly and that everyone had such an enjoyable experience.

Importantly, the evening was also held in support of the Mayor’s nominated charity, Acorns Children’s Hospice. Final totals are still being calculated, but thanks to the generosity of attendees through door donations, the drinks reception plus a wonderful hamper that was generously re-donated by Worcester Civic Society member Cyril 🙏 we are hopeful the event will result in a very generous donation for this vital charity. The final fundraising total will be announced shortly.

It was a truly enjoyable evening celebrating heritage, collaboration and community in one of Worcester’s most beautiful civic spaces. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success.
