🌟 A wonderful evening at Little Lodge! 🌟

Last week, we welcomed our existing parents to our Open Evening, giving everyone the opportunity to explore the whole nursery at their leisure and see all that Little Lodge has to offer. 💛

It was a lovely chance for parents to:

✨ Meet the whole team and put faces to names

✨ Explore their child’s next room and see what the next stage of their journey looks like

✨ Taste delicious food from our catering company, providing a nutritious and balanced diet for our children 🥕🍓

✨ Chat to our team for advice and support around speech and language, toilet training and preparing for starting school

✨ Meet and mingle with other parents, creating connections with families they may not otherwise have the opportunity to see

Most importantly, it was a chance to connect, ask questions and feel part of the Little Lodge family. 🏡💕

Thank you to everyone who joined us — we loved welcoming you and sharing our nursery with you!

📚✨ National Read a Book Day! ✨📚

At Little Lodge Nursery, we absolutely love books! ❤️ Every opportunity we have, we share these special moments together — creating a love of stories, language and learning from the very beginning.

Through sign language, story recall and imagination, our little learners bring stories to life in their own wonderful ways. 📖👐💭

Reading and sharing stories is so important for child development. It supports language and communication, listening and attention, vocabulary, emotional understanding and early literacy skills. It also encourages children to use their imagination, develop their own ideas, build confidence and make connections between stories and the world around them. 🌈✨

Most importantly, sharing a book together creates those special moments of connection, conversation and curiosity — helping children discover that books can be a wonderful source of joy, comfort and adventure. 💕📚

🐄🌻 A trip to Top Barn Farm! 🌻🐑

What better way to learn than by getting out into the world and experiencing it first-hand? 💛

Our trip to Top Barn Farm gave the children the opportunity to get up close to the animals, explore their surroundings and enjoy the wonderful experience of feeding the sunflowers. 🌻

Experiences like these support so much more than just learning about the world around us. They encourage curiosity, confidence, communication and independence, while helping children develop their understanding of nature and living things. 🐑🌱

From asking questions and sharing discoveries to developing new vocabulary and building positive relationships with their friends, every moment becomes an opportunity to learn, explore and grow. ✨

💦🏖️ Splish, splash… sensory fun! 🏖️💦

Our little explorers had the best time getting stuck into our sand & water sensory day! 🥰

From splashing, scooping and pouring to squeezing, squishing and feeling the sand between tiny fingers — there was so much to discover! 👶💛

And whilst it may look like “just playing”… there’s SO much learning happening! 🌟

Our babies were busy exploring:
💧 Wet & dry
🏖️ Soft & rough
🥄 Full & empty
⚖️ Heavy & light
👂 Sounds, textures, temperature & movement

Sensory play helps little minds make sense of the world around them, whilst building curiosity, confidence and those all-important early skills. 🌱✨

🎵✨ We were incredibly lucky to welcome local vocalist Charlie Green to Little Lodge Nursery for a fantastic singing session with our children!

Charlie introduced the children to high and low sounds, pitch and tone, good posture, rhythm and memory through fun and engaging activities. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they sang, listened and joined in with such enthusiasm.

Music plays such an important role in early childhood development. Singing helps to develop communication and language skills, listening and concentration, memory, coordination and self-confidence. It also encourages children to express themselves creatively while having lots of fun with their friends.

Charlie first captured the nation’s hearts as a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent at just 10 years old, making it all the way to the semi-finals. His journey is a wonderful reminder to our children that with passion, perseverance and self-belief, dreams really can come true. 🫶

A huge thank you to Charlie for inspiring our little learners and sharing his love of music with us! 🎶💚

Our teams from both Little Lodge Nursery sites came together for an inspiring training session delivered by Jane Osborne, Early Years Behaviour Consultant and Trainer.

The session provided practical strategies and valuable insights into understanding children’s behaviour, helping us to continue creating positive, nurturing environments where every child can thrive. We are committed to ongoing professional development, ensuring our team has the knowledge and confidence to provide the very best care and learning experiences for the children in our nurseries.

🌱🍎 Healthy Eating Week at Little Lodge Nursery 🍓🥕🌽

This week, our children have been exploring the wonderful world of healthy eating! They enjoyed learning about a variety of fruits and vegetables, discovering where they grow, and understanding how nutritious foods help our bodies grow strong, stay healthy and give us energy to learn and play. 🥦🍎

Through sharing some of our favourite stories about healthy foods, the children developed their understanding of making positive food choices in a fun and engaging way. 📚✨

We also loved learning and singing new songs about healthy eating, bringing smiles, laughter and lots of enthusiasm to our week! 🎶💚

At Little Lodge Nursery, we know that introducing healthy eating from an early age helps children build positive lifelong habits, encourages curiosity about new foods, and supports their overall health, wellbeing and development.

🐝 Yesterday we celebrated National Bee Day with a special visit from our local beekeeper.

The children were captivated as they explored the fascinating world of bees through real beekeeping tools, close-up observations and hands-on, practical activities. Together we learnt how important bees are for our plants, food and environment, and how we can help to protect them.

This experience supports child development by encouraging curiosity, developing communication and language skills, strengthening understanding of the natural world, and building early awareness of sustainability and caring for living things.

What a wonderful day of learning and discovery! 🐝🌼🍯
