Cherry Orchard Primary School and Little Cherries Pre-school

Reception children had a wonderful day exploring . We had a tour inside where we saw some interesting and amazing things. We looked at the features of the building from the outside and explored the grounds. A beautiful setting and the children were a credit to us.

Year 3 had a fantastic afternoon at Malvern Theatres today for the Big Sing. Having practised a number of songs for the last few weeks, we had the opportunity to sing these alongside other schools as well as with a live band.

A huge well done to Severn House who won today's KS2 Sports Day. The morning was full of excellent competition, superb races and, of course, amazing efforts by all! We are very proud of our children at Cherry Orchard!

Last week, Year 4 were visited by a local artist. We looked at colour mixing, tonal value and what it takes to be a professional artist. We have co-created a piece inspired by Georgia O’Keefe. We are extremely proud of the final pieces.

This week, Year 3 have begun reading our new text, ‘My Strong Mind’, which gives tips and guidance for managing the emotions of change as we think about moving to our new classes.
We began by attempting a very tricky origami task that made us quite cross and frustrated. After reading the book, we tried a much simpler task to make a monster bookmark and felt much happier!

The heat’s not stopping Year 1! We’ve been doing some fantastic writing this morning, using pictures to write silly 5 part sentences.

Reception children had a visiting artist come into school and teach us some amazing art skills. We used fine motor skills to pinch, squeeze and twist materials to make a bee. Then we learnt about paintbrushes and different techniques in order to make a meadow painting. Aren't the finished pictures amazing! We look forward to displaying them around our school.

It's going to be a hot one this week.
We may have to adjust the trips and events happening due to the forecast, so keep an eye on our communications.
And you can send a small towel (named) in with your child so they can dip their feet in water for a cool-down if necessary.
