ππ°π· 54 COUNTRIES. ONE BRUSH. ONE BEAUTIFUL MISSION.
We hosted internationally travelling Korean calligrapher Han Chang Hwan (νμ°½ν) at our New Malden Dojang.
Through an extraordinary journey spanning 54 countries, Master Han has dedicated himself to introducing people around the world to the beauty of Hangeul, Korean calligraphy and Korean culture.
And this time, his journey brought him to our Dojang. π₯ποΈ
Our adult black belt members enjoyed a fascinating session exploring how Hangeul was created, the philosophy behind the Korean alphabet, and the artistic beauty that can emerge from every carefully created character.
But Master Han gave every member something completely personal: their own name, beautifully written in Korean by his hand. His message behind this was deeply moving.
β€οΈ Love your name.
β€οΈ Appreciate who you are.
β€οΈ Learn to love and respect yourself.
β€οΈ Then extend that same appreciation to other people.
Two very different disciplines met inside one Dojang: the movement of the brush and the movement of Hapkido, each requiring dedication, precision, patience and a lifetime of learning.
Thank you, Master Han Chang Hwan, for sharing part of your remarkable international journey with SKMA Hapkido.

Renowned Korean calligrapher Han Chang Hwan has been travelling across 54 countries, promoting the Korean language and culture through the art of calligraphy. Yesterday, he visited our New Malden Dojang and held an engaging and inspiring session with our adult black belt members.
During the session, Master Han delivered a fascinating lecture on the history, philosophy, and aesthetic significance of Hangeul, the Korean alphabet. He also personally wrote each memberβs name in Korean and presented it to them as a special gift.
Our members not only learned about the origins and philosophy of Hangeul, but also experienced the elegant beauty of Korean calligraphy as a unique form of artistic expression.
Through his work and message, Master Han conveyed powerful values of peace, love, and cultural unity. He encouraged everyone to begin by appreciating and loving their own names, and from there, to embrace a deeper appreciation and love for themselves and for others.
It was a truly memorable and meaningful experience for everyone at New Malden Dojang, and we are grateful to Master Han for sharing his knowledge, artistry, and inspiring message with us.
