Dear Parents and Carers,
We have been notified by Swindon Education Team that they have cancelled all transport for next week from Monday to Thursday.
Please see message below. This does not affect learners from Wiltshire or other local authorities. We want to assure you that College Will Be Open as normal next week if you are able to get your young person in. Please let us know and we will see how we can support. You will be able to claim travel cost see link below from SBC.
Message from SBC "Following a further review of our risk assessment in light of the high temperatures forecast for Monday 13th to Thursday 16th July, and the increased level of risk this presents for children and young people with additional needs, we have taken the decision to suspend SEND Minibus provision for this period. This is based on clear evidence, including vehicle temperatures recorded at around 40 degrees, and clinical advice on the specific risks this poses to SEND pupils, including impaired thermo regulation, medication-related fluid balance risks, and the greatly increased likelihood of heat-related distress during journeys that can last up to 90 minutes. We do not believe it would be safe or responsible to continue running this transport under forecast conditions.
Please note that this does not affect contracted travel via taxi, coach or mainstream bus, which will continue to run as normal.
As a matter of urgency, we ask that all schools contact parents and carers immediately to advise them that SEND Minibus provision is suspended from Monday to Thursday next week, so that families have the maximum possible notice to plan ahead. Parents and carers are able to claim a Personal Travel Budget to support alternative arrangements during this period. Further information is available here:
