There is nothing quite like flying with the birds with the silence and calmness of mother nature taking you high above the world below.

This weekend we managed to grab a flying window to end the season on a high - literally!.
Post cold frontal weather brought clear skies and a north westerly breeze into Woolacombe Bay. Eve from Yeovil and Amy from South Wales headed to North Devon on Saturday morning - ready to be flying when the wind came onto the hill. At 1pm we were all prepared and pre-flight checked - within a few steps we were airborne. The Wills Wing Falcon 4 Tandem Hang Glider taking us on the elevator to our playground in the sky.
Joining us for some fun in the sky was Jay and Garry from the local club.
Conditions were fantastic - soaring over the village of Woolacombe and high over the beach watching the waves rolling in below us. A birds-eye view flying with the birds! Both Eve and Amy had big smiles on their faces - a great way to end 2024 after a cracking year of flying.

Getting ready for the 2023 season!

The evenings are starting to draw out and the sun is starting to show it's face a bit more now!

Our schedule for this year is to fly the Tandem Paraglider up to March and then both the Tandem Paraglider and Tandem Hang Glider from the end of March onwards.

Unsure of the difference between the two? See the pictures below..

We are in effect flying in the same air, except the Paraglider is usually in lighter winds whereas the Hang Glider allows for a higher wind speed.

Our sites are based around North Devon - Woolacombe, Putsborough and Trentishoe.

There is a very active local club that also fly in the area and we share our flying sites with them. You can find more information on the club here:

Andy brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of flying - as the Chief Coach with both the North Devon Club and the Royal Navy his skills and professionalism are a great addition.

We now have two dual Air Experience pilots which has enabled us to take up friends in the air at the same time! Brothers Seb and Jack got the sunset flights in April over their home surfing patch at Woolacombe Bay - sharing the sky together was amazing.

We have had a busy couple of months in the sky with some very happy faces at the end of the day.

On the long range forecast next week is starting to look good for Hang Gliding & Paragliding.

The 2022 season is up and running. We had a breezy day last Tuesday and had a couple of fantastic Tandem Hang Gliding flights with Jo and Will.

We also have a new addition to the team - a pilot with great experience which is hugely exciting. More information in the coming weeks!

The Summer is moving along quickly as is the weather! We've had some lovely flying days over the last couple of months with big smiles and memories to cherish.
It's also however been a year of frustration with the weather. Flights having to be postponed or cancelled due to the changing of conditions. Thanks to those who have had the patience to wait for a better day - they will come!
We are now also offering Tandem Paragliding at our sites in North Devon - this provides us with a bigger window opportunity with the wind speed and flying conditions - for more information give us a text or call - 07875 247389.
In the meantime, have a look through some of these photos - we are pretty booked up until the end of August but do get cancellations at short notice so stay in touch!

Tandem Hang Gliding on the beautiful Woolacombe Bay Coastline with Fly Like a Bird Music Ehrling: Sommar

We are back flying!!! With the easing of restrictions on the 12th April we were able to take advantage of some lovely weather during the Spring period.
The first Monday brought on shore winds at Woolacombe Downs for tandems. This enabled Duane and Shaun to get airborne over the fantastic bay and coastline. As the month progressed we took advantage of the sea breeze to have some fantastic days at Putsborough.
When warm air rises after being heated over the land, the cool air from the sea flows in to replace it - giving us a lovely airflow coming over the hills at the coast (when you open the shower door next time after a hot shower see if you notice the cool air coming in from outside!).
Back to the hill.. we were climbing up to 1000ft above Putsborough beach at times - looking along the majestic Baggy Point peninsula and back over to Croyde as the sun started to set. Lots of great flights and great memories - thanks everyone for coming along to Fly Like a Bird.
May is coming in wet and windy - but the long range forecast has some good days for flying. If you haven't booked your dates yet then make sure you get in touch as the calendar is filling up quickly.

Re-commencement of tandem hang gliding flights 12th April 2021

With the announcement from the UK Government of the COVID-19 Response Spring 2021 together with the guidelines from our national association, the British Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (BHPA) we will recommence dual tandem flights from the 12th April 2021.

This will be subject to any change indicated by the UK Government and/or the BHPA between now and the 12th April 2021.

We will continue to follow our COVID-19 Procedures during our daily operations which are detailed with your booking packages.

If you have a voucher, and you are not already booked in with potential dates, we have availability from the 19th April onwards.
