πŸŽ‰ Waingels Celebrates Best GCSE Results in a Decade! πŸŽ‰

Today we are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026, who have secured the best GCSE results Waingels has achieved in ten years.

These results are about so much more than examination outcomes. This cohort has become known for its strong sense of belonging, pride in the school, commitment to the community and determination to succeed. They leave Waingels not only with exceptional qualifications, but as confident, resilient and ambitious young people ready for their next steps.

Headteacher Mrs Humber said:

"We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2026 and everything they have achieved. This cohort joined Waingels in Year 7 at the same time that I became Headteacher, so it has been a privilege to watch them grow into confident, resilient and successful young people. Their outstanding results are thoroughly deserved and reflect years of hard work, determination and perseverance.

What makes these results particularly special is that they reflect success across the whole year group. This cohort has embodied our values throughout their time at Waingels. They have shown a strong sense of belonging, contributed positively to school life and embraced every opportunity to develop both academically and personally.

To see almost 30% of grades at the highest levels of 9-7, alongside 70% of grades achieved at 9-5 and outcomes that are significantly above national averages, is a remarkable achievement. These results reflect the collective efforts of our students, staff and families and demonstrate what can be achieved when high expectations are matched by outstanding support and a genuine sense of belonging.

We are delighted that so many students have secured ambitious next steps and that a record number will continue their journey with us in Sixth Form this September. Given the talent, ambition and determination demonstrated by this cohort, I have no doubt they will become one of the strongest Year 12 groups in our history. We are excited to see them continue to thrive and achieve great things in the years ahead. I would like to thank our staff, parents, carers and governors for their unwavering support, and congratulate every member of the Class of 2026 on this outstanding achievement."

Congratulations to every member of the Class of 2026. You have made everyone at Waingels immensely proud.

πŸŽ“ A Level Results Day 2026: Record-Breaking Success at Waingels! πŸŽ“

A huge congratulations to our incredible Year 13 students on a truly outstanding set of results.

🌟 Waingels students achieved a record number of top grades this summer, with one in four results awarded at A* or A

🌟 Half of all grades were achieved at A* to B

🌟 1 in 5 students achieved the prestigious AAB benchmark, almost double last year's figure and significantly above the national average

🌟 Our students have also made exceptional progress, achieving around a third of a grade higher per subject than students nationally with similar GCSE starting points.

We are delighted to celebrate our students progressing to leading universities including Bristol, Exeter, Southampton, Nottingham and Surrey, alongside other students securing prestigious degree apprenticeships with employers such as GlaxoSmithKline

These results reflect the hard work, ambition and resilience of our students, together with the dedication of our staff and the support of families and the wider community.

We couldn't be prouder of the Class of 2026 and all they have achieved.

πŸ’™ At Waingels, everyone belongs, thrives and succeeds πŸ’™

We had a very busy Enrichment Week last week with various off site trips and in-school activities taking place. The students certainly had a fantastic week! Thank you to the Waingels staff for organising such a wide range of activities to participate in. It really was a triumph!

Thank you to the Year 10 Work Experience students Caleb and Bryan who went around taking photographs of the in-school activities. These, along with some trip photographs can be viewed on our website here https://www.waingels.wokingham.sch.uk/280/school-gallery/cat/283/enrichment-week-july-2026

What does a Waingels Sports Day look and feel like?

We promote and encourage all students to take part in at least one activity to support their community. This can be any of the track and field events or the inclusive 'traditional' sports day activities such as sack race, three legged race, egg and spoon, welly toss...
