The countdown to back to school is on! ✏️

First up, we’re so excited to welcome back our new Year 8s and their families on Tuesday for a BBQ and setting-up evening; the perfect way to start their final year at St Hugh’s! ❤️🤍💙

The successful candidate will support the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen, helping to prepare and serve nutritious school meals for pupils and staff while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

And that’s a wrap on the 2025–26 boarding year!

We’ve finished in the best way possible; one last water fight, a BBQ, football on the Headmaster’s lawn, plenty of well-earned chill nights, and cheering on our senior boarders in their fantastic production of Bugsy Malone.

Thank you to all of our wonderful boarders and families for another brilliant year. We hope you all have a fantastic summer, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back in September for another year of adventures! ☀️

What a week it’s been in boarding! ☀️✨

We’ve celebrated so many milestones this week, with lots of our boarders earning their ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rewards and even our first 10-sticker passport being completed! 🎉

Our new Boarding Passport Journey is now fully underway, with each passport linked to one of our core boarding values. As our boarders grow in confidence, independence and belonging, they’ll collect each passport along the way, a special keepsake of their boarding journey.

This week has been packed with BBQs, water fights to beat the heat, supporting Banovallum’s fantastic production of Oliver, cheering on the Year 8 vs Parents cricket match, our ever-popular Jellycat Pamper Night and making the most of the glorious sunshine. ☀️🧸🏏🎭

With just one more week to go, we’re looking forward to making even more memories as we count down to the end of a fantastic summer term! 💙

Year 6 recently visited Castle Rising Castle, built in the 12th century, in Norfolk on a blisteringly hot day. Fortunately, there were plenty of shady places to keep ourselves cool.

We looked at various defensive features of the castle, learned about previous owners and made sketches of the more ornate parts of the forebuilding.

Thankfully, it was pretty cool inside the castle as we toured the different areas of the keep, and lunch was taken in the very pleasant shade of the large (oak?) tree in the inner bailey.
