Clay: Explore Sgraffito Using Underglaze Workshop

Use underglaze colour to explore sgraffito on the clay surface, spend time exploring this popular decorative technique.

Sgraffito involves applying a layer of colour (underglaze, slip or glaze) to the clay surface and then scratching through it to show the base layer. Sgraffito derives from an Italian word meaning “to scratch.”

We will use clay with underglaze colours to explore sgraffito on pre-made tiles and a trinket dish or small pot/vase.

You may like to bring some designs along with you (line drawings or patterns are ideal for this technique) but we will also provide a selection of ready drawn patterns to inspire you.

These classes are available regularly. If the dates / times don't suit please contact us with some idea of when you would like to come and we can then see if we can accommodate you. Groups also welcome.

Working with a variety of different media and exploring creative ways to use them, Creative Canvas is a great way to develop painting & drawing skills through artist led activities and your own personal projects.

Join us on a Wednesday morning to explore painting and drawing with an artist on hand to offer advice and demonstrate different mediums. Basic materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring along your own to work with, especially if you would like to work in a specific medium.

Over the month of August we are opening up our regular Creative Canvas sessions to ages 8 and above. Each week there will be a different theme for inspiration, and as always, there will be a range of drawing and painting materials to explore;

Explore the magic of creating with glass!

This course gives you the opportunity to create your own projects in glass media, with support and guidance.

This class offers instruction & guidance for Beginners* in the construction of Copper-Foil & Mosaic Applique Stained Glass Projects.

*Or, if you have already attended one of our Stained Glass Classes, a chance to continue with your own projects with guidance from an expert.

If you have completed our Traditional Leaded Panel Course, you can also create your own projects using this Stained Glass technique, with guidance from Louise.

Materials are not included for this course but can be bought from the tutor.

Basic tools and equipment will be available for use during the classes but you can bring your own along if you prefer.

Please Note:
If you are working with lead, it is not advisable for pregnant or breast-feeding women.
Please wear close-toed shoes.

We are delighted to have tutor Louise Ferrier return to share her glass expertise for next months Creative Escape, working with strips of coloured pre-cut glass to create simple initials.

In this session we will be looking at the ancient art of stained glass using the Tiffany method. This technique is ideal for making small decorative glass items where copper foil tape and solder are used to join pieces together.

Our Creative Escape sessions are aimed at those who wish to get creative with other like minded creatives and perhaps try a craft/art medium they haven’t explored before.

Enjoy a creative day learning the Tiffany method of stained glass to make plant stakes inspired by Wild Flowers. This is the ideal technique for making small decorative glass items where copper foil tape and solder are used to join pieces of glass together.

There will be a range of beautiful sheet glass and wildflower designs to choose from to make your 3 flower stakes. You will learn to cut & shape glass, apply copper foil tape, solder pieces together, add wire/paint details and finally affix your flower to the copper stake.

There will be a break for lunch - Framlingham has many eateries or lovely views to eat your own picnic lunch. So enjoy your day of Creativity

Please Note: You must wear close-toed shoes. The class involves working with lead solder so is not advisable for pregnant or breast-feeding women.

Cutting, Sticking, Folding, Crumpling, Tearing, Twisting, Layering, Sculpting, Modelling, Colouring, Painting, Drawing… what will you create?

Experiment and Create in our Creative Craft sessions. There will be different craft activities for you to choose from each holiday, including textiles, paper-craft, printing, and more. Plus, we will always have painting, drawing and collage materials available.

Additional hours can be paid for on the day (dependent on time slots & space available)
