Some of the activities the children have been enjoying this week.
Exploring our dear zoo sensory tray, feeling the crunchy cornflakes and listening to the sounds they make as the animals “stomp stomp stomp”
We have enjoyed being outside, mark making with crayons, copying shapes, “circles go round and round”

Peeling stickers, this is great for improving our fine motor skill, as well as personal social and emotional development, sharing our space and helping our friends.

Chinese new year 🧧
The high house children have begun to celebrate the luna new year of the horse with some fun activities.
We have made Chinese lanterns, lots of mark making looking at some Chinese symbols and also using chop sticks with play doh to make the symbols.

Exploring different cultures in the early years involves embedding diversity, inclusion and a child’s own community background into daily play based learning. It focuses on promoting a positive sense of identity, celebrating festivals and exploring books, toys and food from different cultures.

This week the children have been exploring sensory tuff trays to go along with valentines! We have been exploring pink shaving foam feeling the textures, we have been practising our literacy skills mark-making in the foam.

We have also been exploring the water tray using our fine motor skills using spoons, pots, pans along with syringes.

The children have created valentines cards for their loved ones, they have used heart shape sponges and we spoke about shape and colours.

Sensory trays help children to expand on there vocab enhancing their speech and language development, physical development helping children with their fine motor skills and using imaginative play.
