A good leader doesn’t need to have all the answers.
But they do need to take the time to understand.
When someone in your team is struggling, empathy means looking beyond the behaviour and asking:
What might be going on here?
Listen before you judge.
Ask questions before making assumptions.
And remember that people can be having a difficult day without it being immediately obvious.
Empathy doesn’t mean lowering standards. It means leading people with understanding as well as accountability.
Because when people feel heard and understood, it can make difficult conversations, feedback and everyday working relationships much stronger.
