In Monday’s assembly, we shared with the children the survey 'The Big Future' currently being undertaken by Dame Rachel de Souza (Children's Commissioner for the Government). This survey is part of an effort to hear the voices of children in decision making at a national level.

Please find attached a poster and below a link to the website where you can help your child to take part in this survey. The survey covers what children love, what worries they have, how they have fun, and the changes children want for a better future. There are questions about voting, school, your area, online safety, and space for you to tell The Commissioner what you think is important! It takes less than 10 minutes to complete the survey.

We are thrilled to hear that Kyson has received a nomination from our local Co-op at Old Barrack Road to be their community fundraising focus. Over the summer months 1 June 26 to 31 August 26 the branch/store will display posters, collect donations and hold events. The total donations collected will be added to a £150 direct donation from the East of England Co-op sent over to the school for PTFA linked projects.

This weekend the store will be holding a fun morning in aid of Kyson.

We are really grateful to the team at Old Barrack Road and hope their events are a success.

We are incredibly proud of all the Year 6 children for the way they handled SATs week. They showed resilience, maturity, and a fantastic attitude throughout. The children should all be very proud of themselves for their hard work and effort this week – we certainly are!

Dear Kyson Families and Friends,
How have we reached the end of the spring term already? The school year is racing by but there has been so much to celebrate in the last few weeks:
• Congratulations to Year 3 and 4 for putting on two fantastic poetry and performance events.
• Our author visit with Tom Percival was fascinating and awe-inspiring.
• There is so much fabulous artwork around the school from our multi-cultural art day.
• We had a really successful intra-school cross country event (in the rain!) and football Thursday (in the sunshine!).
• World Book Day costumes looked fabulous and everyone enjoyed a day celebrating our love of books.
• We welcomed Alice Sharpe to Kyson for an Olympic Athlete visit – and raised over £2500 for new school sports equipment!
• NPSCC Number Day was a mathematical joy in number and rockstar outfits.
• It has been class assembly season with 6 classes leading us on a Friday in recent weeks.

🔴 For Comic Relief, we hosted a joke competition, with each class voting in their very own comedy champion. Armed with Mr Gunson’s highly scientific clap-o-meter, we crowned a winner! A huge well done to everyone who took part — and to the whole school for getting into the spirit by wearing red and helping us raise an amazing £265.

This term, Year 5 have been learning how to talk about the weather in French. They have been practising a French Weather song, written by Mrs Mawdsley, to the music of Ed Sheeran’s Bad Habits. We think they did brilliantly! Let's see if we can get this video clip to Ed himself!

We are so proud of Kyson Chronicle journalist, Zeynep, who has been sharing with her class all about Ramadan and what it means to her and her family. She spoke thoughtfully and helped her classmates learn more about this special time.
We were so impressed that we invited her to share her knowledge with the wider school community—and she has worked hard in her own time to express this beautifully in her own words. Well done, Zeynep, for helping us all learn, understand, and celebrate each other’s traditions.
