We used our fungi spotting sheets on Thursday to try and spot some fantastic fungi.
We found one 🙄🍄🍄‍🟫.
Oh well, it’s only the start of Autumn, fingers crossed we find some more soon

My new wagon from . I am absolutely in love 😍
Three children, 1 dog and all the paraphernalia that comes with taking them all to the park. So much storage.
No one was squashed and they had their snack in there, making fantastic use of the snack tray.
So easy to push over grass etc and doesn’t feel heavy at all. I love it!!☺️

So today we visited another childminders house and they had some ducklings that had only hatched yesterday! They were so cute and the children were absolutely fascinated seeing them so close and being able to handle them.

“Just” a childminder…

I wear many hats,
within my busy day,
As I help each child,
Learn through their play.

I follow their lead,
As we go off exploring,
One thing is for certain,
Our day’s never boring.

I am often a gardener,
A chef and a baker,
An artist at work,
A creative play maker.

I am a planner, a preparer,
For spontaneous days,
I am a nurse for,
those accident prone days.

I provide opportunities,
For a role play adventures,
I pack forest school bags,
For when we go off and venture.

I am a nature lover,
And encourage outdoor fun,
I am a story teller,
But we can’t just read one.

I change many nappies,
Do a hundred toilet trips,
But I am also a pirate,
That sails on their ships.

I am a feelings trainer,
To support big emotions,
And I’m also a scientist,
Who helps to make potions.

I am a mathematician,
A confidant and a friend,
I scaffold their learning,
Then with that I extend.

I prepare for the future,
And with teaching I’m prudent,
But they also teach me,
So furthermore I’m their student.

I love and I care for them,
Right from the start,
For each special child,
No, they won’t leave my heart.

So really I do many jobs,
And one thing is for sure,
I’m not “just a childminder”,
I am so much more…

To My Fellow Early Years Colleagues 🌈

To the ones who greet each morning
With tired eyes but open arms,
Who wipe the tears and sing the songs
And fill young hearts with calm.

To the ones who kneel on tiny chairs
And listen with their whole heart too,
Who notice every little change
Sometimes before parents do.

To the ones who pour out kindness
In a world that asks for more,
Who stay long after closing time
Sweeping sand from off the floor.

To the ones who carry children
Through big feelings, fears, and change,
Who make each child feel safe enough
To learn, explore, and play.

To the ones who rarely hear it,
Who question if they’ve done enough,
Please know the work you do each day
Is shaping futures through your love.

Because early years is not “just play,”
And care is never “just a job,”
You are the steady, gentle presence
Children build their whole world from.

So this is for the childminders,
The nursery staff, the teachers too…
For every early years professional
The world is better because of you. 💗

As Childminding Week comes to an end, I just want to say thank you to every early years professional.
This sector is filled with some of the most inspiring, compassionate, and supportive people I’ve ever met, and I’ll always be grateful for the connections and encouragement it has brought into my life.

What a week dodging the rain, hail and being cold. We have had to wrap up like it’s winter this week. ☔️🌧️🥶

The good thing about having this weather is we get to have some lovely conversations about all the changes and we get to jump in puddles. 😄

This week we have used our w**d identification cards to identify some of the w**ds we see on our travels.

Fingers crossed the weather is warmer next week 🤞
