On Wednesday 20th May 2026, current staff, pupils and former pupils attended the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Celebration at Buckingham Palace, recognising their outstanding achievement in completing the Gold Award.
Hosted by Prince Edward as part of the DofE’s 70th anniversary celebrations, the event brought together thousands of award holders from across the UK.
We are incredibly proud of everyone who represented the school so brilliantly and should be proud of this fantastic achievement.

Another half term done and just one more to go before the Summer Holidays!
Of course, we’re not the type of school to end the year quietly…
Next half term is packed with exciting opportunities and unforgettable experiences, including trips to Legoland, Leicester Space Centre, university visits and Alton Towers!
That’s alongside awards evenings, Proms, Year 6 transition events, and so many more incredible moments still to come.
For now though, we hope everyone enjoys a wonderful break and a very well-earned rest. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for an amazing final half term!

For several years, Highfields has entered the Staffordshire Schools Cricket competitions from Year 7 through to Year 10, enjoying great success by regularly reaching semi-finals and finals. This year, both the Year 7 and Year 8 teams have continued that success by reaching the quarter-final stage following two very convincing victories.
The Year 7 team comfortably progressed to the quarter-finals, with Josh and Ashton guiding the team to victory without losing a wicket. The Year 8 team were equally impressive, scoring 122 in just 12 overs, including an outstanding unbeaten 44 from Nial. The bowlers then stepped up brilliantly to dismiss the opposition for 68, highlighted by a superb five-wicket haul from Aarav.
Congratulations to both teams, who will now look to build on this success in the quarter-finals after half term.

What a day for The Highfields School Year 7 rugby team!
They recently enjoyed an unforgettable rewards trip to watch Leicester Tigers take on Northampton Saints at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
The trip celebrated the team’s fantastic commitment, attitude, and performances throughout the year. Highlights included a brilliant coaching session with Leicester Tigers community coaches and the opportunity to interview first-team player Charlie Myall, gaining insight into life as a professional rugby player.
The day finished in style as Leicester Tigers secured an impressive 41–17 victory in an electric atmosphere! A huge thank you to Leicester Tigers for giving our students such a memorable and inspiring experience.

Our Lower School STEM Club have been busy bees recently, building bug hotels from recycled materials!
Their marvelous creations will help care for the smallest wildlife residents here at Highfields, while teaching students all about the delicate balance of nature and the importance of protecting local ecosystems.
STEM Club meets every Thursday after school and is open to all Year 7 and 8 students. With exciting new discoveries to be made each week, we can’t wait to see what they do next!
