It was fantastic to see our Year 9 maths students taking their learning outdoors in the courtyard on Friday!
With guidance from Miss Kainth, students got hands-on with trigonometry, using their skills to measure the height of trees in a real-world setting.
The practical approach brought maths to life, and it’s safe to say the students loved every minute of it!

We took a group of students to The Birmingham Rep to watch an adaptation of A Midsummer Nights Dream and took them wo Waterstones Birmingham as a reward for their contribution to reading within the academy!
The group included some of our reading ambassadors, library helpers, avid reader and writers!
Some of the students were gifted vouchers as a reward and had fun spending these in Waterstones on lovely new books.

Our students recently joined an online workshop with Schools of Sanctuary and A Day of Welcome, exploring ways to help build a welcoming and inclusive community.
A key moment was hearing from Giel, a South Sudanese refugee, who shared his powerful story and his current challenge of walking the length of the UK to raise money for charity. Giel also offered simple, practical ways students can help foster belonging for all within our academy.
The session left students feeling inspired to take action and create a community where everyone feels welcome!

This week, we randomly selected students who achieved an A1 or A2 in homework completion – and we’re so proud of their commitment and consistency!
Our aim is to do this every week and see those numbers grow. The message is simple: you’ve got to be in it to win it!
Keep up the fantastic effort, everyone – your hard work really does pay off!

House Breakfast Rewards Morning - Week 2
Students who have made outstanding contributions to their house teams were invited to a special ‘breakfast’ in our canteen as a way of recognising their effort, commitment, and team spirit for their house team. They all had the opportunity to enjoy a buffet-style Full English breakfast.
This is just the beginning, rewards mornings will continue over the next week, giving us even more opportunities to recognise and celebrate our students’ achievements.

This morning, some of our year 7 and 8 students took part in a Junior Mathematical Challenge.
A National competition which really pushes students to develop their mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency.
Good luck to all of our students! We are excited to see how they get on.

Week 5 at NEWA and our Proud Table is looking fantastic.
Last week, students shared an incredible range of achievements, including creative artwork, impressive homework, and well-earned trophies they’ve brought in to celebrate their success. It’s always inspiring to see the pride our students take in their efforts both inside and outside the classroom.
The Proud Table was on display during lunch for everyone to enjoy, giving students the chance to recognise and celebrate each other’s accomplishments. Moments like these really highlight the talent, dedication, and positive spirit within our school community.
A shout out to the students: Kaylee, Mahi, Oshean, Juweriya, Barnett, Starry, Lily, Scarlett, Milana, Macee, Gold and Simarpreet.
