Not sure who may be on this group for whom the following images will be relevant - Founder's Day 1977
I was a pupil at WGS 1950 - 1955 approx. Anyone remember me? I'd like to get in touch with some of the lads I was at school with - er - with whom I was at school . . .
Class of '89 competing in Japan with daughters.
Chapeau to all those who got their GCSE results today. 37 year ago, I managed to scrape 5 A's, 2 B's and 2 C's, which was quite a good result back in those days and allowed me into the sixth form to study Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Back in the day, some students would be put into the remove', which basically meant they had to start the sixth form, but also retake their GCE's (as they were ) at Xmas, before being allowed into the sixth form proper. The requirement for sixth form was 5 grade C's or above....How times have changed. Below is a link to the GCE English paper we sat that year on 25th and 26th June 1979, in an upstairs classroom in the Hallmark buidling, with the chairs facing away from the windows to avoid distractions.
Saw this flyer in a shop in Barmouth. I'm thinking that this is likely to be our very own Jim Chugg (JPAC), who taught geography at the school in the 1970s and now lives in Bryncruig, near Tywyn, Wales.

This site is dedicated to offering a vehicle for Old Wulfrunians to communicate with the school and more importantly each other, in a celebration of what makes the WGS community so special. We also recognise that this community is not just made up of alumni, so we very much hope that past parents will also use this site to establish (or re-establish) links with the school they so generously suppor

We are grateful to all our panel members for supporting this event. Sean Farrington (OW 2001) said, "It's an honour to be able to spend a few hours back at school talking about football without being told to concentrate on the blackboard! It's important the school is able to offer bursaries to those who need them, and it's great that this evening will help do that."

All welcome: OWs, parents, family and friends. We look forward to seeing you on Friday 17 November.

We are grateful to all our panel members for supporting this event. Sanjay Bhandari (OW 1986) said, “I benefitted hugely from an assisted place at WGS. It completely changed the direction of my life. I worry that there are far fewer such opportunities for a child today from a poorer background. Talent is distributed evenly. Opportunity is not. Bursaries are a fantastic way of giving opportunity to hidden talent. I am so grateful for what the assisted place did to change my life. I want the next generation to benefit from the same opportunities I had”.

All welcome: OWs, parents, family and friends. We look forward to seeing you on Friday 17 November.

Remembering our dear friend and colleague Carrie Bennett on what would have been her 50th birthday💗

We recently shared the beginnings of a Story Garden at WGS in Carrie's memory; a fitting tribute embodying her passion for reading, gardening, and the wellbeing of our community.

Carrie will have touched the hearts of many of our OW community so if you would like to support the fundraising for the Bennett Story Garden, please follow the link in the post below.

Today we are remembering our late Director of Marketing and Communications, Carrie Bennett, on what would have been her 50th Birthday. ❤️

We recently shared the beginnings of a Story Garden at WGS in Carrie’s memory. The Bennett Story Garden will embody her passion for reading, gardening and the wellbeing of our community.

In order to finish the garden we are fundraising via JustGiving to develop the sensory aspects of the garden, provide planters, a water feature and signage.

If you would like to support the project, please click on the link: https://www.justgiving.com/page/the-bennett-story-garden

Over the summer Mrs Rowley has been busy with a new project made possible through funding from the Merchant Taylors' Foundation. In an unused space outside the Jenyns Library are the beginnings of a beautiful story garden to be named after our late Director of Marketing and Communications, Carrie Bennett. This area will soon be filled with literary inspiration to uniquely enable our community to immerse themselves in reading whilst connecting with nature, two things that were loved by Carrie. 🌸📖

Mrs Rowley still has ambitious plans to further furnish the garden with plants and sensory equipment and we will be launching a JustGiving page shortly. We look forward to an official opening of the Bennett Story Garden later in the month. Thank you in advance for your support for this wonderful project. 😊

We are all right behind you Nic Anderson!

Congratulations to Mr Anderson, whose 40-year association with WGS culminates tomorrow in the start of his tenure as Acting Head.

Mr Anderson began his WGS journey as a student in the ‘80s, graduating with the Class of 1990. Seven years later, he returned as a Maths Teacher and Teacher in charge of boys’ hockey. In 2005 he was appointed Head of Lower School, followed by his role as Deputy Head (Academic) in 2009, in which he has flourished for over a decade.

Known and warmly recognised by many an OW, student, staff member, and parent, Mr Anderson embodies a unique blend of pride and guardianship for WGS. We wish him all the best as he leads the School into the new academic year.

This week Mr Anderson was joined by Sandy Jawanda (OW 2000) and Amy Page (OW 2001) to present a cheque to Sally Woods from Compton Care. 😊

Today our South Africa Tour Group stood in the same spot that 13 staff members and 79 students stood in 21 years ago to the date as they set off on WGS’ first South Africa Tour in 2002. 🇿🇦 Can you spot any familiar faces?

Mr Anderson also managed to catch up with some of his fellow 2002 tour-goers at the weekend for a charity hockey match!

Please share your memories below. ⬇️

It was great to see so many OWs back on the astro turf on Saturday morning to play a hockey match in memory of Nic Anderson's mum, Janet Anderson. Over £1000 has been raised for Compton Care. 💛

Thank you to OWs Ross Deeley, Emily Hunt, Elena Martellini and Harjorth Sanghera for your help with WGS EDI Art Mural👍

Winners of the WGS EDI Art Mural competition have been lucky to spend time with local graffiti artist, Neil Willis, to bring their designs to life. 🌈

A huge thank you to Miss Bowater for organising the competition and to the OWs who joined us. 😊

We welcomed back over 120 OWs, former parents and staff for our Coast 2 Coast reunion on Saturday 😊

WGS is exceptionally proud of all the students who have participated in this challenge since it was first introduced in 1999. Through their endeavors, an impressive 248 pairs of legs have crossed 4,256 miles and raised over £100,000 for various charities 👏

We are incredibly grateful to Michelle Craig, a New Zealander and former staff member, for introducing this memorable event to the WGS calendar and to former Head Bernard Trafford, for supporting the idea👍

If you could not attend the reunion but would like to share a memory from your involvement with C2C, we would love to hear from you!

This afternoon, students and staff took part in the 30th annual Walker Memorial Mile, created in memory of OW Chris Walker, who tragically died in 1983.

We look forward to welcoming former students, former parents and former staff back to School for our Coast 2 Coast reunion on Saturday, celebrating everyone involved in the 25 challenges completed since 1999! 👏

On Sunday, WGS' Cricket Festival will be in full swing, with matches starting at 12pm. The forecast looks good, with plenty of sunshine. Spectators are very welcome, as such events would not be the same without some encouragement from the boundaries!🏏
