Forest School sessions coming to Our Lady and St Chad 🦋🐛🐞🪱🐌🌳🍂🍃
We held a celebration event this week to share the fact that over 280 students have accessed mental health support through animal assisted therapy with Huggle Pets in the Community over the last academic year. The National Lottery funded company have worked with our students in group sessions and on a one to one basis.
It is amazing that young people are now becoming more comfortable in accessing support for their mental health and wellbeing with such an accepting approach, breaking the stigma around this topic.
If you would like support for your child please access the Academy website or call us
See the brief newspaper article from our event this week:
Forecasts predict temperatures during the current hot spell will peak early next week, with highs in excess of 30C (86F) expected on Monday and Tuesday. Students have the option of wearing full uniform, without the traditional blazer and tie, or alternatively Academy PE kit, during this period.
Students are advised to bring a refillable water bottle and apply sun cream.
Students attending school visits next week must ensure they are prepared for these extremes of temperature.
Please see advice from the Met Office on keeping cool:
Tips for keeping cool in hot weather Most of us welcome hot weather, but when it's too hot for too long, there are health risks.
Not long to go now...

The dancers took part in the NATIONAL Great Big Dance Off competition on Monday night at Cheltenham Town Hall after winning the regional rounds for the West Midlands. Three acts in and one of the dancers from another school fell and banged her head. Luckily she was ok but due to this the show was postponed for an hour and a half and then as we were still waiting for the ambulance they moved the competition from the main stage to a very small hall that had two big pillars in the middle of the floor and the judges were sat directly in front of the dancers.
We were on a five group rotation and basically got called last minute to perform. The dancers had no preparation, hadn’t seen the space or anything and as always they handled this with true professionalism and absolutely smashed their performance. I couldn’t have been more proud of them.
However, our amazing dancers still came 3rd NATIONALLY out of 19 schools in the KS4/5 category!
Amazing performance 💛💙💛💙
It was lovely to see so many year 11 pupils at their leavers assembly today. We can't wait to see their outfits at Prom tomorrow!
Arrival is from 6.30pm. We will take plenty of photos to share with you but there will be a professional photographer there to take indivual or group photos if they wish, these prints will available on the night for £10. We'll see them there! 💙💛
