This half term, our Year 4 scientists have been investigating β€˜Teeth and Eating.’ The last two weeks they have been specifically looking at the digestive system. This week, our scientists used household objects to represent the different parts of our digestive system.

Amongst these, they used scissors to represent the teeth, a zip lock bag to represent the stomach and tights to represent the small and large intestines. Using bananas and crackers they simulated the digestive journey from the mouth all the way through the body, up to its exit. They had lots of fun and were able to describe each part of our food’s incredible journey! What brilliant Scientists! πŸ§‘β€πŸ”¬

This week, Jones’ cafΓ© was open for business with head chef Jones inviting Year 1 to examine and taste some fruits and vegetables that they may have never seen before. They produced a variety of adjectives to describe their findings. They will use their knowledge of fruits and vegetables to help make a salad to add to the café’s menu in a few weeks’ time. Watch this space!

Year 5 had a great day yesterday at their trip to Tamworth Castle! It was so lovely to see their excited, little faces and big smiles all around. They enjoyed learning about Saxon hierarchy and archaeology during the interesting workshops the castle held for us. The children had a chance to hold swords, shields and helmets. We saw items from the Staffordshire Hoard and enjoyed the walk back to the coach in the sunshine with beautiful views across the river. βš”οΈπŸ°πŸ²
