This half term, our Year 4 scientists have been investigating β€˜Teeth and Eating.’ The last two weeks they have been specifically looking at the digestive system. This week, our scientists used household objects to represent the different parts of our digestive system.

Amongst these, they used scissors to represent the teeth, a zip lock bag to represent the stomach and tights to represent the small and large intestines. Using bananas and crackers they simulated the digestive journey from the mouth all the way through the body, up to its exit. They had lots of fun and were able to describe each part of our food’s incredible journey! What brilliant Scientists! πŸ§‘β€πŸ”¬

Wow Mason! You really did a fabulous job with your homework this week. It has taken pride of place at the front of school. 🀩🌟

The countdown has begun! We all enjoyed opening door 1 today in our Advent Calendars from Reverend Kate. All the children enjoyed reading the first part of the Nativity story too ✝ πŸ•―

This week, Jones’ cafΓ© was open for business with head chef Jones inviting Year 1 to examine and taste some fruits and vegetables that they may have never seen before. They produced a variety of adjectives to describe their findings. They will use their knowledge of fruits and vegetables to help make a salad to add to the café’s menu in a few weeks’ time. Watch this space!

Kingfishers acknowledged Remembrance day with their own celebration in class.🌺

A special mention for Mrs Hollington today - 30 years of service at St Martin's! We marked the occasion with some beautiful flowers from children and staff and a few words from Mr Davis. Here's to the next 30 years Mrs Hollington! πŸ’

This morning we marked Remembrance Day in collective worship. The children laid poppy wreaths and expressed gratitude for those who have served our country, and those who continue to do so. Thank you all for your generous donations to the Royal British Legion. Lest we forget πŸŒΊπŸ–€

WOW! Year 2 have started their new history topic today and what an amazing set of Tudor houses they have made over half term. We will be looking at Bonfire night and The Great Fire of London over the next couple of weeks and this display has really set the topic alive. πŸ”₯πŸ’₯

St Martin's CE enjoyed an informative assembly this morning from the Royal British Legion. The children were informed that it is a British charity providing financial, social and emotional support to members and veterans of the British Armed Forces, their families and dependants, as well as all others in need. πŸŒΊβ€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ™

Year 5, Vikings and Anglo-Saxons! The children loved this activity at Tamworth Castle βš”οΈπŸ°

Photos from St Martin's CE Primary School's post 27/10/2023

Year 5 had a great day yesterday at their trip to Tamworth Castle! It was so lovely to see their excited, little faces and big smiles all around. They enjoyed learning about Saxon hierarchy and archaeology during the interesting workshops the castle held for us. The children had a chance to hold swords, shields and helmets. We saw items from the Staffordshire Hoard and enjoyed the walk back to the coach in the sunshine with beautiful views across the river. βš”οΈπŸ°πŸ²

St Martin's enjoyed celebrating their musical achievements this morning with a 'Big Finish'. Each year group has been practising their song with Mr Wilkes in weekly music lessons and this morning, they performed their song to the school! 🎡🎢🎀
