How does snow compare to ice?

What happens to ice when we bring it indoors?

Can we turn it back into ice?

The learning around the seasonal weather has continued to develop - the children have been sharing their knowledge about ice and snow. Through their observations, they have been supported to formulate questions, and then they have gone about testing their theories...fabulous STEM learning at Bushbury Nursery School πŸ€“

The science and engineering behind a muddy puddle...

Bushbury Nursery School children have been learning how to make their own muddy puddles.

They have been sharing their skills and knowledge with each other, mastering the technique of how to pump, capture and then transport the water needed to make a muddy puddle πŸ’¦

...they are also learning that water is a precious resource, they carefully choose containers that hold the water without spilling 😊

Concepts about STEM underpin our curriculum at Bushbury Nursery School - a windy day offers joyous and thrilling learning.

In their play the children hypothesised about the direction the tarpaulin would move, how high it would go, how long it would stay in the air by counting.

The force of the wind and the ripples of the material made us feel like we were in a giant wave 🌊🌊🌊

Different types of food are often at the heart of celebrations, whether if its Diwali, or Christmas πŸ₯°

The children had the confidence to taste foods they are not accustomed to and made their own orange juice in their experiential domestic play. Real food in the domestic role play area has encouraged some of our children to overcome food worries and anxieties, they feel proud and show great resilience. πŸ₯°

Winter Water Safety - West Midlands Fire Service

Please use the following link for advice on keeping safe around water.

Winter Water Safety - West Midlands Fire Service Winter is especially dangerous because of the temptation to play on ice formed over open water, rivers or canals. It's risky for everyone, but both children and pets are especially at risk, as well as adults who might attempt to rescue them.
